Not sure if this was discussed before, but if you go to google.com and type in your phone number, it will give you an address and mapped location to get directions to your place.

The Google doesn't know about me yet.

You are "off the map", "not in the grid", "out of the matrix"?

If you don't want pshyco's, or ex's, or psycho ex's contacting you, and your phone number comes up with results, press the phone icon and it will block your number in 48 hours.

no results come up for my phone #.

As for the psychos, that's why I'm in a gated community... :D

What if all the Pshyco's live in that gated community?

For what it's worth, if somebody knows your phone #, will blocking it in Google really do any good?

Or are you suggesting that a psycho ex who knows your area code may have nothing better to do than type in all the different possible phone numbers into Google just to track you down?

Lets say you had it blocked from the phone book or any public listing so a person can't get your home address. Now all anyone needs to do is type it in to google, and find your address, and they can get directions to it all at once.

doesn't work for me.
our listing is wrong with the phone company (it's under my wife's maiden name...we tried to fix it for a while, but eventually gave up), but I don't know if that's why or not.

The medicines the nice doctor man gave me took care of that.

Does it include private numbers? (unlisted, and cell?)

But if you know a person's phone number, isn't there a pretty good chance you know where they live too? If someone's willing to give you their phone #, they probably don't care if you know where they live.

The number of tools like this just keeps growing. A lot of people at work were surprised when I showed them the county deeds website (which a large number of counties are starting to roll out) where you just punch in someone's name, and if they own a house in that county, up pops details of their address, what they paid for their house, pictures of their house, and in some cases floor plans. Stalker fun!

isn't it ironic that now that stalkers FINALLY get the tools they need, stalking has become illegal

What a Gip!

I found My wife, but I wasn't even mentioned.

I wonder if she knows something I don't? That happened with my first wife.

AHHHHHH!!!!! RUN AND HIDE THE INTARWEB WILL GIT YOU!!!

OKay stop and think for a second.
1. a LOT of cities offer reverse phone number books, and heck if someone has your phone number they probably have your name anyway, so there is step one
2. phone book gives an address
3. pick up a map, or in big cities even better a Key Map.
4. find the person's home and your there

so this google thing isn't a real big stretch from what already exists for your local neighborhood stalker

Phone books don't always give you addresses though.

I tried using my cell phone number, but that didn't work. In the Reverse Phone Directory, there is a link to Reverse Cell Phone Numbers, which you can trace for only $79 a cell phone number. Weird shit.

All Google is doing is making information easier to find. If somebody really wants to get that information about you, they could get it with (relatively) little problem.

Exactly, instead of having to search for a number either through a phone book or whatever, then cross reference it with a map, and then get directions which who knows how long that could take, someone can now just type your number in, get an aerial shot of where you live, your home address, and get driving directions to it in a matter of a few minutes.

Sure your most persistent stalker would still go through the above steps, but for those that are lazy, it just makes stalking easier and quicker for them.

Also, for caller ID, if someone keeps calling and hanging up, or calls with a wrong number, you can google the number and see where it is coming from. Or you get home from work, check your caller ID and see a random number on there, you can find out who the hell it was.

anywho.com has a reverse lookup feature just like this, type in a number and it tells you who it belongs to and you can click on a link to get a map and directions...we don't have a land line, only cell phones, so I guess we are safe for a while :)

No, this girl is hotter. There is a pic (albeit a non-nude) of here somewhere.
