So I am in this WSOP qualifier satellite for about 3 hours. 41 entered, and we are down to the final 6. I am right in the thick of things, after a bad run had knocked me out of the lead. Chipleader has 48K, 2nd has 28K, I have 25K, two other guys have over 10K still, blinds are 600/1200 with 75 antes.

Top 3 get entries into the qualifier I want to play in. 4th gets $450 which would be quite a nice profit on the night as well.

I get KQs UTG, and I raise 4x the big blind. Then, the cable modem goes out. It doesn't come back in the next 30 minutes. This morning I wake up and request the hand history. It took 32 hands for me to finally blind out. They played "normal" for a few more hands and one person went out 6th, so we were on the bubble. At that point they took turns raising when I was in the blind and there was not a flop for 25 hands in a row until I blinded out to finish 5th.

I can't say I have a problem with their play, so I'm not complaining about that. I was gone for at least 15 minutes before I blinded out and it frustrated the heck out of everyone.

UGH :(

Just needed to complain a bit, this pissed me off to no end.

Ouch. That's my biggest fear when I enter a multi-table tournement. That really sucks.

I'd seriously bitch out the cable company. That's ridiculous. See if you can at least get a partial credit or something. Won't be $450, but may be something. That blows :(

I am sure they would be happy to reimburse him for using their service to gamble online, which is illegal in most places. :D

I'm here for a laugh...I mean, I asked my cable company for a credit when it went out during a...million dollar tournament. Yeah...that's the ticket...a million dollars!

Dear cable company,

GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

Sincerely,

Anonymous Gambler

Radii,

That really sucks. Have you thought about getting a phone line modem as a backup for things like this? You seem to play in enought high price tourneys that it might be cose effective.

VICTORY IS MINE.

Entereted the same tournament this weekend. 45 entrants, 4 seats to the Sunday WSOP qualifier, this time the cable modem didn't die, and I won my seat into the qualifier. :P

109 in tomorrow's tourney so far, just need to finish top 6 to get a nice week long vacation in Vegas this July. Nooooo problem.

Wait, does this mean you wouldn't be in a FOFC tournament in July then?

I used to do tech support for USWest DSL service. People would call us up during an outage to complain about the service and demanding that we pay for their losses. Our responses were:

ME: I'm sorry sir, this line is for technical support only. At this time your area is experiencing a widespread outage so any troubleshooting we do for you will not work.
THEM: I want a refund for this service! I'm losing money by not being able to get online! If I don't get at least 3 months free service, I'll cancel!
ME: I can refer you to the customer service number for any concerns about your bill or to cancel your service.
THEM: !@#*!@#*!@#*!@#*
ME: Sir, if you continue to use profanity I will disconnect the call.
THEM: I'll sue you!
ME: I am unable to assist you with any legal matters. I can transfer you to customer service.
THEM: I just need to get online, I have a deadline!
ME: Do you have a back-up?
THEM: huh? what's that

I had a guy call and claim he had a contract with Microsoft and had a deadline to meet. He had to get online and transfer 500MB of files right now and every day he lost was a $100,000 fine from MS. He had cancelled his AOL service and then ordered DSL 3 days before and was wondering why it was not working. I looked up his account and his provisioning date was still more than a week away. I advised him of this and he started tearing into me so I hung up. He called back 3 more times and was just cussing and carrying so I hung up each time, finally he stopped.

I have a buddy who plays online quite a bit as well and if one of us loses service for any reason the other will jump in and play if they aren't already in a game. It's saved my ass a few times.

Excellent point. Remember to always use the "buddy" system while surfing the web. I have a guy remoted in to my machine right now so if I lose connection, he can finish this post for me without missing a beat. The service is great and worth every penny.

I have a couple of guys I trust and if it wasn't 4am the first time I would have done that as well :)
