Strange Internet Explorer problem, any help?

IE on my computer started acting strange this last week. Whenever I click on a link that is supposed to open up a new page in a new window IE freezes up for a minute or so and never opens the new window.

I thought that I might have a pop-up blocker that was working overdrive, but I checked and that is not it.

Anyone have a similar problem or have a suggestion on how I can fix it?

Yeah, I already have tried that and do about 85% of my web surfing with FF, but I need IE for a couple of sites that for some reason FF doesn't work well with.
