All this started because they were dating. I tried to tell him to leave the girl, but you know how kids are.

At what point are people going to start taking responsibility for their own stupidity instead of pointing fingers at something else. It's not the parents' fault they couldn't be reasonable; it's the damn kids who insisted on dating one another despite the parents' idiocy.
Weepin', creepin' Jesus.

It's not exactly a new situation. It's happened since the beginning of time, I'm sure. I just fail to understand how they can say that it happened because the boy wouldn't leave the girl, and not because the parents are, to quote GWB, "dumbass fuckers."

CRESCENT CITY, Florida (AP) -- Members of neighboring families shot at each other, wounding six people, as part of a long-running feud that victims said peaked when a girl from one family began dating a boy from the other one.
Six people ages 14 to 22 were taken to hospitals Sunday for treatment of gunshot wounds. Two remained hospitalized Monday, one in serious condition.
Baldemar Riojas, 46, was charged with six counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. He was freed on $15,000 bail.
Members of the Soliz and Ortiz families say their feud with the neighboring Riojas family has simmered for more than a year and became more heated when Riojas' teenage daughter started dating Miguel Soliz, 15, who was among the wounded.
"All this started because they were dating," said Melva Ortiz, Miguel's mother. "I tried to tell him to leave the girl, but you know how kids are."
Maj. Rick Ryan of the Putnam County sheriff's office said members of both families had guns and fired across a street at each other.
However, he said investigators had been stymied by the families' reluctance to talk to authorities. "We get out there and nobody knows anything," Ryan said.
Angelica Soliz, a cousin of the victims, said she hid under a bed during the gunfire early Sunday.
"We just threw ourselves to the floor, and the people who got shot, they didn't have a chance," said another family member, Maria Ortiz, 22.
The violence had been building for hours. A fight broke out Saturday night among dozens of opposing family members, but the sheriff's office said there was not enough information for an arrest.
Riojas' 20-year-old son, Baldomero Riojas, was questioned and released, but Putnam County sheriff's deputies plan to pursue a charge of reckless display of a firearm against him for allegedly firing into the air. A third man was being sought.
Riojas' wife said her husband was not responsible.
"My husband's not a violent person. He's been in the United States for 24 years and he's never been in trouble," Lisa Riojas told WJXT-TV of Jacksonville.
Ana Diaz, 14, who was wounded in the back, was in serious but stable condition Monday at Hallifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. The only other person hospitalized, Miguel Ortiz, 22, was in good condition at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

LOVELOCK, Nev. (AP) - A Lovelock high school teacher was arrested on suspicion of exposing her breasts to students and possessing marijuana.
Lori Ann Robinson, 35, a special education teacher at Pershing High School, remained in jail Sunday in lieu of $537,211 bail.
It's always good to see the truly dangerous people kept off the streets.

I try to avoid using cut-and-paste because it bugs the hell out of me when I enter a thread and immediately foreign cookies try to deposit themselves on my machine, courtesy of the quoted website.
I figure anybody who's interested enough in the article to put up with any potential cookies can easily click the link, and those who don't want to deal with such won't be inconvenienced.
So sorry your finger appears to be broken.

Sounds more of the Hatfields/McCoys variety to me...
I told my cousin who teaches in Lexington, KY. He said there would be people in his classes who would be shocked to hear of people dating outside their family...

Cookies from cut and pasted text?
I don't pretend to understand it. Maybe there's something special they're doing that's causing it.
All I know is I've entered threads on FOFC and had FireFox pop up asking me if I wanted to accept cookies from the quoted site, and it pisses me off.
So...rather than do the same to others, I just link it, unless the link requires registration or something similarly odious. If it's worth the three seconds to click the link, people will. If not, they won't.

As an outsider nearly done with his 2 year tour of duty in Lexington, I think you guys are confusing Lexington with every other stretch of Kentucky outside of the KY cities. Hell, Lexington has a higher percentage of college graduates than any place in the nation. Lexington is where the educated in Kentucky go to escape the hillfolk.

That's from people cutting and pasting using the WYSIWYG editor. As long as you don't have that turned on cutting and pasting shouldn't cause anyone any problems, Josh...

I told my cousin who teaches in Lexington, KY. He said there would be people in his classes who would be shocked to hear of people dating outside their family...Your cousin is full of it then. I've lived in Lexington for a long time now and I've never met anybody who has dated inside their family. As mentioned before, Lexington doesn't fit the hillbilly stereotype at all.
