As much as it pains me to say it....
The Cowboys are to the Redskins over the last 5 years
as
The Sooners are to the Longhorns over the last 5 years

5 years?
The Cowpies have owned us for at least 10 years now.
We can't even beat them when they suck.

It will be a battle for 2nd place in the NFC East.

Bah. The Eagles are due for a post-Super Bowl blowout victim letdown.
I'm counting on the Redskins maintaining the top defense in the conference, and the offense at least showing marginal improvement with Brunell nowhere near the field to start the season.

I think you're seriously underestimating the number of Redskins/Cowboys fans. For a rivalry like that, it doesn't even matter as much that the teams won't be great.

Bah. I'll be watching, of course, because it's football, but this game means about as much to me as a rivalry as Seattle/Cincy.

Ten to fifteen years ago, as a teenager and Broncos fan, I actually cared about the Cowboys-Redskins games. I'm sure that football fans all across the country just loved watching those teams play. Does anybody who's not a fan of Dallas or Washington even care about these games anymore? I mean, I guess maybe Eagles and Giants fans would care if the games meant something as far as divisional standing, but that doesn't seem too likely these days. I'm not trying to knock people who still care about these games. To each, their own. I suppose I just wonder if people who used to enjoy this rivalry no longer give a rat's ass anymore.

Frank,
You're a true skins fan.. I think this is the first year I go in not thinking that we've made a miracle and will suddenly be good..
That being said, I need the skins to win that game so that I don't have to wear a Cowboys tie to work AGAIN for losing an ongoing bet...

And I'm a Broncos' fan too. Hmmmm...

I've always disliked both teams so I will be pulling for a tie game.

Does any rivalry game mean anything to people who aren't fans of the teams involved? I know I don't follow any rivalry where I don't have at least moderate interest in one of the teams.

Thrilling. Two bad teams on Monday night that have trouble scoring. Asleep by 9:20.

I can enjoy a Browns-Steelers game. I can enjoy a Packers-Vikings game. I can enjoy a Saints-Falcons game. Of course the Broncos' divisional games mean more to me, but I think rivalry games are just fun to watch. The Cowboys and Redskins just don't do anything for me anymore. I used to enjoy watching their games against each other, and I looked forward to them. Now it almost seems like a parody of a rivalry. I'd rather watch the Cardinals and Rams twice a year at this point.
It's not really about the games meaning anything to me. It's just about the fun factor of a rivalry, which the Cowboys and Redskins don't provide for me anymore. I know not everyone feels that way, but I just wonder if anyone else feels that way.
