"The girl was led by the arm behind a stage curtain in the auditorium. There, witnesses said her lip was bloodied and she was sexually assaulted by a group of boys, an attack videotaped by one student and watched by more than a dozen others who came running as word spread. "
"But principals didn't immediately notify police for fear of media attention, in violation of state law. When the girl's father arrived, he was asked not to call 911. He ignored the request and called police. "

Very sad.
I think of my two little girls when I read stuff like this. I would have punched the f'n Principal in the mouth and then dialed the police.

"But principals didn't immediately notify police for fear of media attention, in violation of state law. When the girl's father arrived, he was asked not to call 911. He ignored the request and called police. " :eek:The reasons for the request may actually have been sound:
When the girl's father arrived, Watson said he advised him to call the non-emergency police line, not 911, because "our fear was that a news channel might tape his daughter and cause her further mental trauma."

Ok, if I ever find somebody beaten to a pulp, I'm not going to call 911 because I don't think he'd look good on TV.

Audiotape, not videotape. They aren't concerned about her condition being aired on TV. That's personally identifying and no reputable news media agency would ever air video of a rape victim like that.
Audiotape, well, you could make a similar argument, but I find it more likely that something like that would get captured than that the media would videotape the girl.

As a father of a new baby girl, I can tell you that there would be a lot of dead bodies to account for if this ever happened to my daughter.

She was forced to perform oral sex on at least two boys, according to statements from school investigators.
I have never understood why people actually do what they are told when forced to go down on somebody and don't just bite down hard. Real hard. It's what these S.O.B.'s deserve...

I really can't understand why the school would not want to call the police or why they would discourage the father from doing so.
That is a grossly irresponsible decision if you ask me and they deserve to be fired if nothing else.

If X would have happened to Y, then Z. You can count on it.
And what are you looking at? Fuck off, piss ant!
