View Full Version : IHOF Site problems

I don't know the reason for today's problem, but I've opened another help ticket wth the host, as well as trying to get a hold with someone there via their live chat system.

In the meantime, email any outstanding files to commish at fof-ihof.com and post any outstanding trades in this thread. Regardless of what gets mailed or posted, I cannot process today's file without regaining access to what has previously been uploaded, so there's no timetable on when the new file will be available. I'll keep everyone updated.

Thanks for you effort, VPI.
Times like these show how well things are going 99% of the time.

I PMed 3 outstanding and confirmed trades to you and it looks like you got them. :)

And as PMed, my export was uploaded, but I decided to recreate and email it. If you can recover the uploaded export, that would be cool, though, I'm not 100% sure I redid everything as wanted...

Still under 10 trades...

I got a secret plan to disappear until the training camp export after a couple of fa signings and hiring a draft day robot and then to be set for the next two seasons. So far, things are going very well to make that possible.

I hate it when he does that, although I am glad he fixes stuff promptly when there are problems. Wasn't me who fixed it. I noticed some problems this morning as I was logging onto the file system and at noon, things were still screwy when I needed to get today's stage files. I'm assuming they took down the server to fix those problems and that was the outage we saw this afternoon.

Update:

The domain name has been transferred to a new host, but it should take a few days for the change to propigate itself to the various name servers on the internet. Beyond that, I till need to gain access to the old server to gather up files and back up the mesage board to transfer it to the new host. I can get all that done within a day, but the old host has to be up first.

As for the status of the Week 11 Mid Week export and beyond, my inclination on this holiday weekend is to schedule the Week 11 Mid Week file to be due on Tuesday afternoon and sim Week 11 on Thursday. After that we'll follow the normal Monday/Thursday progression for the remainder of the season.

Any thoughts?

Beyond that, I till need to gain access to the old server to gather up files and back up the mesage board to transfer it to the new host. I can get all that done within a day, but the old host has to be up first.

As for the status of the Week 11 Mid Week export and beyond, my inclination on this holiday weekend is to schedule the Week 11 Mid Week file to be due on Tuesday afternoon and sim Week 11 on Thursday. After that we'll follow the normal Monday/Thursday progression for the remainder of the season.

Any thoughts?
I don't see a problem with having mid-week file due on Tuesday. We could push for files to be emailed for a Saturday mid-week, and if it weren't a holiday weekend I'd push for that. However, seeing as how people may have out of the norm schedules, waiting 'til Tuesday seems prudent.

However, seeing as how people may have out of the norm schedules That was my main consideration.

I'm sorry you have the additional hassle Nahh...it's a good thing. The new host came highly recommended and we'll end up with twice the space and two and a half times the bandwidth that we had before for a similar price. Plus, their tools give me more control of the site that I had before, so that's a plus. The big thing will be customer service....I already had a question for them this morning and received a response within the hour....I could count on a 24 hour wait with the old guys.

In my mind, we were probably going to have to make a change at some point anyway, it's just that the current situation forced the change to be made now instead of in a more scheduled timeframe.

I guess we're going to have to resim week 10 as well. That's a shame.I guess Dutch would like that to happen.

Schedule suggestion:

Why not:
Tue - mid-week 11
Wed - week 11
Thu - mid-week 12
Fri - week 12

Or
Tue/Wed - mid-week 11
Wed/Thu - week 11
Fri - mid-week 12
Sat - week 12

I mean, we're already on an different schedule this week. I mean, pushing things back a bit more won't hurt and this way we are back to the normal scheduling anyway from July 11th and on.

Since there aren't any holidays to work around, I don't think it really makes much difference if we try to get back to the old schedule or move it back a couple of days. Probably depends on people's ability/desire to send in exports every day this week.

Hmmm...this is good for my Guinness budget. Of course, you are probably due a raise considering your effort. Although, I don't think I can come up with any logical justification to my wife as to why there is a charge for a keg of Guinness on the credit card.

There was a problem today?

For the record, every once in a while I try something on the server that eats up resources (a few days ago it was testing a script that would merge images and text on the fly) and that can cause a temporary outage, but I don't think I was doing anything today.
