Strange FM/WWSM problem

Hi guys. Any help here would be much appreciated.

This problem appeared within the past couple of days. It's pretty strange and it's very annoying. I'll be in the middle of a game after loading it from save and I'll hit continue. When it comes back from its processing, the game doesn't really allow me any time to do anything and automatically hits continue for me. I've got to fight like a bitch to get the thing to stop. Most of the time, especially if I'm in the news portion, I try to go to prefrences and switch one of the settings. This will stop the program from continuing. But it comes up again the next time I hit continue. I've tried plugging in and out my keyboard and mouse but that has no effect. I'm currently at a loss and have been unable to play the game as a result.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Go into the preferences screen. There's an option there that sets the game to autocontinue after a few seconds. Turn it off.

Maybe try going to the preferences screen before hitting continue that first time?

Evidently I had set the "Continue Game Timeout" setting to instant.

shit. that'd been happening to me, and honestly was driving me nuts and had *gasp* made me stop playing FM. I thought it was something with my new laptop being super-laptop, but I must have clicked that button by accident when I was trying to resize the screen!! Hallelujah! FM here I come!! *races off to get the CD*

yesssss. it's like crack for my gaming habit. I'm already back into it, fussing about why Edgar Barreto wants to leave Rosenborg for bigger clubs. I'm not letting him leave, no sir. Not for a penny less than 18 mil! He's worth it too (check him out if you are looking for a great AM RC...20 year old Paraguayan). Not to turn this into a thread about crazy players but hell, we ought to be hearing about this guy IRL soon enough if his FM form holds true. And no reason why it shouldn't, one thing I've loved about CM/FM is that it has always done an amazing job with young players. I can't tell you how many times I've found someone in FM first or conversely read about them first and then found them in the game and had them be eerily similar. Example... my favorite current young studs...Andreas Gorlitz and Thomas Hubschman.
