I've been to Hebron IL a few times. I have to say I love Hebron IL, but I'm not in love with Hebron IL.

Yeah, that is a one-horse town. Back in the day, Chadwick IL served the same purpose.

Maybe that's where Vaughn came from.

Woah. Waukegan alert.

Actually, in the past four years, I have been too lazy to change my profile. I have since moved to Lake Villa then to Fox River Grove. I probably saw you at Gurnee Mills with the rest of the Navy folk.

I used to live at Imperial Towers during my time in Waukegan. It might be of note that the police was called on some higher ranked Navy guy at my time there, but it was not his fault. Basically, somebody let his ex-wife in the building, and she started beating on the door and yelling f-bombs. He was trying to settle her down. She started pushing him, and he just sorta took it. When the police came, she tried to play it off like he was the problem. Luckily, the police knew she was the trouble maker.

All in all, it was pretty entertaining.

Heh. You won't catch me in Gurnee Mills. Too many of my students shop there. Last thing I want to be called out in town is "petty officer" or "ET2."

I grew up in Lindenhurst. But that was in the days before Gurnee Mills. I still remember that whole area as open fields. You used to be able to drive on Grand Avenue from the interstate to Lindenhurst in about 10 minutes and there was only on set of street lights. But then I also remember Six Flags as Marriott's Great America too.

At that time all the Navy personnel were at Lakehurst mall. I'm not even sure if that mall still exists.

I remember it as Marriot's, too. We must be old. As ardent alluded to, Lakehurst is gone. I work right across the street from where it used to be. They tore it down last summer. Now they're "pretending" to put in upscale strip malls, but the truth is they're still waiting to see if they can nab a casino license from the state of Illinois.

Ardent, no worries. We hired movers for that day, but we'll be recruiting help one of the following weekends to move crap from our storage bin into the new house. ;) You don't get off that easy. http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif

I cannot tell you the significance of Shermer. . . can you help me out?

Otherwise, my favorite McHenry Co. town is Chemung.

(Sorry about this all. I've been using both my names: Stanmarsh100 and Esquared1)

It's a "Dogma" reference. Jay and Silent Bob head to Illinois to find this town called Shermer, where all these teen movies like "Pretty in Pink" take place, figuring they could set up shop selling weed and get all the hot women because all the guys in those movies are pussies. When they get to Illinois, the find that there is no such town called "Shermer" and end up living in McHenry, where they meet the main character, Bethany Sloan.
