What are the credentials for winning the Silver Slugger award in the MLB? Is there a formula or a point scoring system in place?

Ok I know that the award is based off of the following;

• The selections are based on a combination of offensive statistics, such as batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage of a player at each position.

However, I am not sure if there is a point system in place for each offensive stat.
