Despite being criticized by several people on this board, Vizquel is proving to be a great signing for the Giants so far.

Key words in bold. Just like Pedro's deal with the Mets, let's revisit this when they're in the last year of their contracts.

(I say this as a White Sox fan who was thrilled when the Sox wouldn't match the extra year the Giants added to Vizquel's contract, so I may be a wee bit biased.) :)

Giants are lucky they tried to improve this season in a big way. The new guys have helped keep us afloat since Barry is out...despite the fact that 2/3 of the new guys have been hurt and one of them for a long time (Benitez). Also, Alfonzo playing like we had hoped he would when he first signed has helped too (as well as a 3 game series vs. the Pirates).

I'm a Sox fan and don't wish Pedro any ill will, but I was glad when the Sox wouldn't match the Mets' offer. Maybe it will be the Roger Clemens scenario all over again, but Pedro was poor for the clubhouse and has a high risk factor from injury and age.

Pedro is not a Roger. If he could give it his all every night it would be 1999 all over again, he's still got it. He is just not physically capable of it anymore.

Well, I know it's only the 1st month of the season and all, but current events dictate otherwise...

3-1 W/L, 43 IPs, 2.51 ERA, .7 WHIP, 10.88 Ks/9 and 6 Quality Starts seem like pretty damn good stats to me. As you mentioned earlier, let's check in after the All-Star break.

And thats all the more reason I am even more sure he is going to get injured. He could of done that his last few years in Boston but he toned himself down so he could stay off the DL.
