View Full Version : FOFC: Posters From The Same Town

DeToxRox
05-05-2005, 04:58 PM
I've noticed that it seems like a lot of FOFC'ers who post regularly are close in proximity to each other. Some from bigger areas then others. For example, Ice and I are both from Berkley, Michigan, which has a max of 15,000 people living here. And I can swear to it that someone else on here is from Berkley, or has lived here.

So are there any other occurances where people on here are from the same town/city of an even smaller population?

The coincidences life brings. Good stuff.

It seems as if half this board is from Georgia or perhaps Oklahoma/Texas.

I'm the only one in Keene - but obviously there's a couple other NH people around. Jim's about an hour away in one direction, and fido (wherever he went off to) is about an hour in another direction. If I contributed anything to this community, that would be quite the football sim power triangle...instead it's more like a power line or something.

I live in Springfield, VA, a NoVA suburb that looks a lot like all the others (including McLean).

You know how sad it is that I can script the typical conversation I have when the Cards visit Kaufman each year

"Whine, whine, 1985, whine, whine, We won World Series, whine, whine, Don Denkinger, whine, whine, whine."
"Isn't 20 years too long to be crying about one call, especially when you came back and laid and egg in game 7?"
"Whine whine whine. Oh yeah, well your team sucks. You need us to come and fill your ballpark. We support our team through good and bad times"
"Is that why every time Mark McGwire didn't play during those bad times, you could wallpaper a room with the unused tickets?"

They suck that bad, huh?:p

Sad, but yeah, pretty much. Attendance was terrible even when they were good, so now... ugh. Pumpy and I are roughly half of the UNO fanbase.

Is Oklahoma even a real state? :)
Nah, but I've heard we've been proposed into Statehood.

I'm from Arkansas so is MattJones4Heisman, but I don't believe we live very close to each other. I'm from Little Rock, the central part of the state, and I believe he is from the NW part. GoldenEagle went to college in Arkansas, but I'm not sure if he is still there or not.

GE and I both went to college in Arkansas, Clarksville to be exact. About an hour and a half from Little Rock. But we moved to Mississippi to go to school now. He's originally from Southaven, MS, about 5 miles south of Memphis.

I am from Houston, TX. I dont think i've ever seen another poster from Houston on here before, but I'm still new.

I was wondering if he was still at University of the Ozarks. I am an assistant coach for a girls' basketball team, and one of our seniors is going to play basketball up there next year.

I remember one of the other posters here (more regular than me I think) is from Newbury as well.

I think I've seen maybe 10 or so Brits on this forum, so considering it's a forum around a text-based, downloadable management sim of the NFL (depite my and many other's support is still a minority sport in the UK), for two members to be in a small market town of 32,000 is kinda strange.

Looking on the search function the other chap is Tanglewood - sorry dude for not placing you originally

Pumpy, New Orleans may be a decent sized city, but the odds of finding another genuine Privateers fan on here were astronomical. To me that's way more amazing than two people posting from a 15,000 population town.
You know what? You're right. Our basketball team averages how many fans per game? About 800? The Bo Show is going to the NCAA's next year!

I can dream.

Chicago has a pretty good number of posters.

Okay, it's just me.

Others I can think of:
Ardent
Dataking
The Virgin Mary of the Underpass
Ravenhawk
Neuqua
Coffee Warlord
Passacaglia
Lurker

Just a few more additions. Windy City represent!

Average is just over 1,000 but we're in big danger of going under 1,000 next year. Been slipping for awhile. Can't believe there's someone else in that empty arena posting here. I'll tell ya what, Monte's recruited a heck of a backcourt. We'll see if we can win a Sun Belt title with an amazing backcourt, no small forward, half a power forward, and no center. I'm skeptical but hopeful as always.

If Nathaniel Parker wouldn't have gotten hurt this past season... well, we still would've finished in the middle of the conference. I think Elias is going to be a decent center, but he's going to be a junior next year, and you can only use the excuse "he's raw, but he's got potential" for so long. Malloy showed some flashes last season, and I have hopes for him, too. The lack of a small forward is going to kill us, though. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish we still had Kyle Buggs. Billy McDade might return next season if he gets his academic problems worked out, but he's not really the answer either.

Unfortunately, I'll have to follow my Privateers from long distance since I'll be living in the Pittsburgh area come August. Rock the Lakefront Arena for me, LloydLungs!

Well when I started posting on this board, I lived in Jersey. Buccanear can back me up on that. He knew me from another forum before I came here.

I think my parents are in their district now (heck, Collins wasn't around when I went to school). They're at 249 and Spring Cypress.

That's where my boss lives. He's right off of Spring Cy, about a mile west of 249. He used to work at Compaq, and had a nice short commute. He was one of the first 500 employees at Compaq, and worked there for almost 15 years. I almost bought a place in that neighborhood, but decided I liked Austin more.
