So I just moved house and my flat-mate has a PS2, so I can finally put my SNES away and enter this whole 'next generation gaming' scene… :)
Before I splurge out the cash for Sega's NCAA Hoops game, I want to check if PS2 games are region coded? I know that it can't play out of region DVD movies which is fine, but I live in Australia and this title is not out down under. I know that video game system regions don't match up with the DVD movie regions, so I would think not, but most likely I'm mistaken!

Im not completely positive, but i think ps2 games can or cannot be region encoded, its up to the publisher. But, what is most important is if the ps2 is NTSC or PAL. If your ps2 is PAL, you need to find a PAL version of NCAA.. etc... i think Australia would be PAL.
Have fun with all them polygons. http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

PlayStation 2 games are region-encoded. PlayStation Portable games, on the other hand, aren't (although the UMD movies are).
Hope that helps.

Dola,
I believe the region encoding for PS2 games breaks down largely into PAL vs NTSC. Beyond that, no issue, but Aussieland is PAL, so...

Yeah. USA, Canada, Mexico, and Japan are all NTSC, but Japanese games have a region lockout.
Basically everything else is PAL.
