The UBL (http://www.unitedbaseball.org) needs a GM who is up for a challenge. The Milwaukee Brewers have had...what we can call a bad run...for the last 10 years or so. They actaully sniffed .500 for most of last season before falling apart. They have some very nice offensive pieces including a stud youngster just about ready, but their pitching is mediocre and they are in the best division in the UBL. The NL Central has churned out NL penants for about 90% of the UBL's history, inlcuding my Astros, Jim Lynch's Reds, and Cuckoo's Cardinals. Lots of FOFCers are in the league and it has some great rules.

We have a salary cap of 100M, a sister European league from which certain eligible players can be bid upon by UBL teams, an 8/4 rule similar to MLB's 10/5 rule, and strict extension rules resulting in more FA. We also have a nice player development tracker and some good reporters. Hit me up here or on AIM (mikedavis76) if you are interested. I'd rather recruit from here than the OOTP boards, so I figured I'd give it shot since about 10-15 of our owners are from here (and a few former ones as well that would be welcomed back).

^^^ Oh, and while you're there, please feel free to make fun of our Marlins owner who made the front page by losing 12 straight (so far)...

Great league - who's up for the challenge? My Cards have been struggling of late after some great runs, but Mike is right about Milwaukee. They have some young talent, and it'd be a good situation for someone who likes the challenge.

miked,

I'm interested in taking over the GM spot for the Brewers. I've visited your league website, read the rules, and I don't see any problems making the commitment. However, I have never played in an online league before so I'm not really sure what to expect. Due to the realities of my job, I will not be able to do anything league related during normal working hours. I'm guessing that is no big deal if I make my submissions the night before the deadline. Also, I spend weekends at home and weekdays working out of town. I'm guessing that this means that I will need to make an export from home Sunday night, and make my others from my apartment on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I have computers with OOTP6 at both locations, but I don't know if the exporting will work off of separate computers. I don't know if my exporting issue or my inexperience are dealbreakers, but if they are not I would love to join your league.

As long as you post on the board sometimes and make an effort at exporting enough to stay competitive it will never be an issue. You shouldn't have any problems exporting from 2 computers - I do it from 3, you just need to have 6.12 installed on all of them.

My team plays better when I don't export and just leave them the hell alone.

bumping this...

I have decided to boot the PIT owner as well. I really need to find a good owner to take the reigns as PIT deserves to have a solid owner. This team has shown promising development over the years, but really has not had 100% effort save one GM.

They have like 4 top pitching prospects in AAA and are just a good GM away from really competing with the CIN/HOU/STL domination. It would take some effort, but we have a great league with plenty of activity.

I am also willing to discuss giving away my Astros if you just don't want to rebuild. The Astros have made the playoffs each year of the UBL and are looking good again in 2012. I would consider giving them up and taking the Pirates if I could find a solid GM. Check out our forums or hit me up on AIM.
