Pretty much they all suck. I have the Magnavox, which was supposed to be good, and have replaced it twice (warranty). It was $350-$400. Only the $800+ ones are gonig to last, from what I gather.

I considered these for a while but then I started looking at Portable Media Players - much the same concept as the portable DVDs but with a hard drive. You do have to transfer the ripped files to the player but they just seemed easier to deal with.

Instead of spending 800 bucks on a portable DVD player, your better off getting a Laptop with a DVD drive in it.

Or for $250 bucks you could buy a PSP that plays movies *and* games. Of course, you'll have to buy all of your favorite movies over again in PSP's format, but, well it plays games, too.

Plus, if you buy it for yourself, you get the satisfaction of watching your kids' faces cave in while you play it...and when they ask to see it, you get to say, "Well, little buddy (or buddette), I would let you play it, see, but IT'S MINE!! ALL MINE!! BWAHAHAHAHA!"

I'm telling you, that's worth $250 right there.

That is worth $250.00. How big is the screen?
