Paris Hilton Said Engaged to Shipping Heir
Monday May 30 8:42 PM ET

Hotel heiress and "The Simple Life" reality TV star Paris Hilton is engaged to her boyfriend, Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, her spokesman said Monday.

"They are happy and excited," said Hilton spokesman Rob Shuter, confirming the story first reported on People magazine's Web site.

Latsis proposed to the 24-year-old Hilton Wednesday after she returned from a three-week publicity tour in Europe to promote her horror flick "House of Wax" and her new fragrance.

The couple, who have been dating for about eight months, marked the engagement Saturday with a barbecue for 75 friends and family at their Hollywood Hills home, Shuter said.

No wedding date has been set. It would be the first marriage for both.

You know.. I would really like to know this . . . I honestly didn't know (or care) who the hell Paris Hilton was until they showed her in the press box when she was dating Urlacher.. and now.. yeesh.. can't turn around without seeing her everywhere.

Are there people REALLY interested in this skank or, is the media just jamming her down our throats telling us we need to be interested in her?

I don't get any of it.

More Pat O'Brien, less Hilton.

It should have read, 'This will be the first hasty annullment for both', IMO :) .

I heard she was complaining about him not wanting "her" money (I think she means her daddy's/grandparents) money, that he was the first guy she could trust. I believe this guy grandfather was in the top 150 richest people in the world when he died a few years ago.

Wonder what they'll name their kids?

Paris is originally a guys' name. There was a pretty famous one from Greece. Coincidentally, this guy is from Greece.
