STFU is one of my favorites, it's even worked its way into conversation (as an abbreviation) for me on occasion.

funny story about LOL. I chick my wife used to work with used to think LOL meant "lots of love". she couldn't understand why people would add "lots of love" in weird places in emails she would get. LOL.

I liked when someone intended to write ROTFLMAO (Rolling on the floor, laughing my ass off) but instead wrote ROTFLMOA, which was interperted as Rolling on the floor, licking my own asshole.

I'm pretty sure that's "to be honest".

In Omerta, there's a lot of "idd" (making me think it's a more international abbreviation. Near as anyone in the fofc chat can tell, it's "indeed".

Near as anyone in the fofc chat can tell, it's "indeed".This one could actually be from Dutch origin, as the exact Dutch translation for "indeed" is "inderdaad", with "idd" referring to the first letter of each syllable (in-der-daad).

FUBAR and SNAFU were military acronyms way before Gore invented the internet. I know they were used during Vietnam, and I believe they go back to WW2 or farther.

I believe if you have the BSD game set installed in your favorite *n*x-style operating system, there's a program called WTF that will decode acronyms for you.
