So I got a speeding ticket in a dink town on my way to work. Court is next week, at least they didn't send me my supporting deposition I asked for (on the back of the ticket) so it should get dropped :D

Damn speed traps, the road goes from 55 to 30

They've got 30 days to mail you the deposition - when did you get the ticket?

March 28 is when they recieved my non guilty plea in the mail (certified mail receipt) and I never got anything but a court date letter. I'm going down to the court tomorrow before work to see if I can get it dropped then otherwise I'll just make a motion to dismiss next wed at my hearing.

Just be careful when you go. When you make that motion, the prosecution or even the judge could make shady legal maneuver that you don't know how to respond to. If you know anyone that's a lawyer just ask them, if you can, what exactly you want to say... and be prepared to respond to some kind of bullshit from the other side.

I've been through this before :D I wouldn't be surprised if noone showed either, had that happen once where the court sent me the wrong date (i was a week early, the next week was "DA week") and got it dropped because of that.

I'll have that link printed out anyways :D I knew that was the law but could never find anything about what precedent it was based on.

and just so people know, state troppers have a new system that automatically sends the deposition so don't get pulled over by one of them (a friend's husband is a trooper)

so I went down to court today and the clerk checks my file and VOILA the deposition was in my file. Of course, they didn't even take the deposition until May 23rd (I had the clerk make me a copy) and they receieved my ticked at the court on March 28th... a little past 30 days :D I never got a copy in the mail, not that thatshould matter at this point :)

If you were in the General Lee you would've been okay. I've seen the Duke boys get to the county line numerous times and they were always okay.

hehe, I was thinking that but he got me in monroe county so he still would have been able to pull me over in livingston county. I don't think the "Duke Defense" would have held up :)
