Does anybody find this to be a worthwhile feature? It usually takes less than 10 games for the commentary to go from mildly amusing to somewhat annoying to downright irritating.
And yes I am thinking of you Madden 95-05, but even the nfl 2k series which used to have good announcers has become grating.
I think I would prefer a music loop in the background a la nes or nothing.

I almost always turn the volume down and turn on my TV and just listen to music. Music on a loop would drive me insane just as quickly so it's better that I choose what I listen to.

I agree they are annoying, mainly because they take the same 7-10 things and just repeat them at random. And sometimes you're into the next play and they're still midsentence about the previous play.

But the voice actors....for goodness sake the voice actors!

I've heard them so much, I just tune them out at this point.

I like NHL 2k5's announcers. Thorne and Clement did a damn good job.

Just once I'd like one of my game announcers to say "And BOOM goes the dynamite!"

I can think of a bunch of real life announcers that are just as annoying at the console games! To me Madden is by far the most Bland. I enjoyed Stevens and O'keefe. The MVP Baseball guys are pretty repetitive too. to each his own I guess.

Here's a proposed solution as a stopgap until we can get true AI announcers:
You know how you can edit the fans and edit the signs in NCAA Football and Madden? Let us record our own announcing and let us put it in there in certain situations, like long 3rd down conversions, rushing touchdowns, interceptions, etc.

Only if they begin the sentence with, "Passes it to the man..."

I liked the announcing in MLB 2005 last year, apparently the last year Sony had Vin Scully on board. It was the closest I've seen a video game come to actually emulating a live broadcast.
Then they ditched him. I am saddened.

there still isn't anything that beats "BOOM SHAKALAKA!"

I do to. It depends on the game and how well they do it. I can handle the same thing being said over and over again. I'm not sure why I hate it in certain games (like NCAA Football 2005. Ugh, can't stand it)

Just reading the name Vin Scully makes me want to flop onto a hammock in the backyard and fall asleep listening to a dodgers game while balancing a beer on my chest.

I have to admit unlike many games I still am not tired of the NBA Jam announcer.
