View Full Version : Board problems?

Is anyone having problems accessing the board? I am getting a ton of error messages emailed to me by the board software, but I have not noticed any problems or any threads complaining about errors.

Let me know if you have seen anything

There's been on and off instances of the connection timing out for me today. Haven't had any problems in the last hour or so, but earlier today it was bad.

Same for me as CW. I've also had slow loading times (sometimes as long as 1 minute for the front page on a DSL connection) for the last couple weeks.

I got one this morning...something like "Database Full" or somesuch.

Same here. I was getting some error like "No data on page" or something like that. Smooth sailing for the past hour or so.

The board was out completely earlier today, just after 9 central if I remember correctly. It tried to load for for a few minutes and then I would get a very generic error message. After a half hour or so it was fine for me, though...

I was unable to access the board for over 3 hours this morning/early afternoon, at least. A combination of the database error message and timing out issues.

I was among those unable to access the board at all for at least an hour this morning.

I had problems yesterday, this morning, and a little early this afternoon.

It's been sort of spotty, so I just take it as a sign to do other things when that happens. :p

Same for me, I'm on a DSL too. I'm solving the problem hitting reload when a page is slow. After a couple of times, it's quick again.

I've just been having problems with the board timing out, but I'm not getting any messages.

I've been getting the "very slow page loading" issue for a while now. The one where you get to see small parts of the thread at a time: the header, then a few seconds later the date line for the first post, then the poster info a bit later, then their post, then the next date line, etc. Can take a minute or more to load a page.

06-16-2005, 09:49 PM
What gstelmack said, and for a while, too, but it's not at all times.

Oh, and I got the error, e-mail sent message just 5 minutes or so ago, as well.

I had a lot of problems, yesterday in the afternoon. I can connect again in the evening but was very very slow, and after I opened a tread hardly came back to the "general discussion" page. This morning It's seem better.

Yesterday I notced that there were no posts made between about 7:10 and almost 9:00am (Pacific). That makes me think that no one was able to use it during that time.

Since moving to an ADSL broadband service I've had trouble for about three weeks now - first load is fine but from there on it's painfully slow. I've often abandoned the forum in frustration. Seems ok today though.

For me, the board seems to be running as if I were using one of those old 56K modems.. Problem is, I'm at work using the high powered network.

Page load times range from 15-20 seconds to close to 2 minutes.

Getting some database errors and timeouts this evening. Maybe the board can't handle the lack of traffic without Jeebs' daily 300 posts. ;)

I've noticed very slow loading times and the occasional database error even when viewing the board at 4-5 am EST, which is a pretty low traffic time. So it doesn't seem to involve the number of users here, at least.

I visit a site, steeler nation, with a similar vbulltin layout, and they are supposedly paying 2-300 a month in bandwith. Granted they probably are paying retail, but it could still be extremely expensive.

If that's not a perfectly good reason for us to stay content and do absolutely nothing about the board problems, then I'm not sure what is.

Sorry, I did not get a chance to split the forum over the weekend, I will give it a shot later (though it might mean that the board is down for 30 minutes or so).

Before making any hasty decisions we should see if this makes anything better.

It's not just the General Discussion board that is a problem. If anyone thinks it is, then it's purely a coincidence.

Do to the rapidly disintegrating board conditions, it is with deep regret that I announce the immediate cut back on my visits to the board from 1,150 per day, to 550 per day.

Seriously, though, I don't get anything BUT hang ups and the occasion database error message. It's gotten so bad, I click a forum or thread, then open another browser and go eslewhere until the one here comes up.

For the record, I believe the board's consistent sluggishness sprung up exactly the same time the ads at the top started. Might be coincidence, but there you go. I use the Solecismic yellow and don't see ads, but it still started right at that time.

I've just trialled a spyware prevention and uninstaller product which found a gain-supported adware: since the programme found and removed this the ads have stopped and the board has become quicker - unfortunately this was at the same time than the database has apparently been part archived, so whether it's one or both of these factors that have helped I don't know.
