is making my brain hurt. I did a search and read all the threads re: digital cameras and it only made me more confused.

Here is what I am looking for. Last football season, I used a Sony Mavica 5MP camera, basically a point and shoot type camera. It took nice pictures, but his action shots were missing. By the time I pushed the button and the picture took, the play was done. I hated that. Someone told me a Canon Digital Rebel was a good camera because it would take the photos quickly without missing the play or tackle, and the quality was amazing.

So, based on what I want to use it for, is this the way to go or is there better choices? I guess I will spend around 700-1000 on it.

The Nikon D70, another digital SLR, has gotten RAVE reviews. As a Nikon user in general, I usually recommend that one. :D

I believe the Nikon D50 has just been released, the little brother to the D70. So far, reviews for that one have been as rave as those for the D50, and it brings the world of digital SLR's down to more people (it's slightly less featured than thd D70 but is also less expensive).

I know somebody here uses a D70, hopefully he'll chime in. Damn if I had a job I'd certainly consider making a purchase of that nature...
