Is it worth it to get 2GB of ram instead of 1GB, or is that overkill? (cost is about $220 more)
Thanks.

depends on what you're going to be doing with the computer...how long you want to be able to do it without future upgrading...what the configuration is (what's the standard onboard/how much can you add on? if you order 1gb are they just keeping the 512 onboard and adding another 512 stick, or is the onboard a 1gb stick?)...and what the like...ballpark price you're spending is. What % of the total cost of the computer is 220? Is it a drop in the bucket, or a bunch?
off the top of my head though I'd say unless you want to play top of the line games and don't want to upgrade for a year or so it'd be unnecessary. besides, you can always pop in a new 1gb stick later when the prices go down

Not overkill. More RAM will better compensate for your small penis.

1 gb is plenty, unless you plain on doing a lot of video editing, CAD editing, generally editing lots of stuff. You really won't notice a huge difference in day to day stuff or most gaming.

Please keep listening to your wife. DO NOT get the paternity test. You don't want to know.

I would agree that 1Gb is about perfect for today's standards in PCs.
Use that extra cash if you want and get a better video card.. or save the $$$$

1GB I think is standard these days. Plenty for today and a bit of future proofing without busting your budget.
Then I again, I bought 2GB for my system one year ago :). If you got a lot of money to blow and don't feel like upgrading for the next several years go two. Otherwise one is fine.

I just got 2 gig to go in my new system. It was only about $100 difference for me.

Funny, but not even remotely feasible. Have you seen the pictures of my kids? They're practically clones...

i think it's worth the investment. Memory is relatively cheap, so i maxed mine out at 2GB. I could certainly see the difference over the 1 GB i had running for about 6 months prior to the upgrade.

Thanks for the input. I went with 2 since I keep my computers for quite some time (one I'm replacing is 3 1/2 years old).
