I use AVG, and I am wondering if by chance, that it has been comprimised, I can not get to grisoft.com to update anything, and my control center is down...
I am just curious if anyone is using it and experiencing the same as I am..

Alright, it's looking like I was nailed by a virus or by chance, the kids messed this up...time to set up individual logins and controls on the machine now....
Thanks all!
I use it and all is fine with me - both the web site and the control center.
I assume you're using AVG 7.

Oh, and I am thinking that something is not letting me connect to grisoft for the updates...and I cannot find my lmhost file, so I do not know what the hell to do there....

Update to my little drama here.....looks like I will be doing a nice F disk and fresh install this weekend.....just what I wanted to do
Unless any of you can help me out and find out how the redirects are happening without the lmhosts file....

I'd normally concur, but considering I just spent two hours trying to remove a virus that wasn't a virus, I'm not really in a position to make judgements.
anyway as part of my brilliant tech maneuver, I just downloaded and updated AVG with no issues.

It quite possible your explorer.exe is infected. Have you gone thru rebooting into safe mode, opening up AVG, ending task on explorer, then running a full system scan? Id go thru that before anything else, it might fix you up.
Also, this program here will restore/create the original lmhosts file

One more thing, if AV doesnt do the trick... Kaspersky Antivirus is also very very good.

So the lmhost program worked....whatever it was that I had screwed with that bigtime...I just restored to the original windows version...
I am able to update AVG and everything is good.....so far...
