We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under the dock
And there they saw a rock
But it wasn't a rock
It was a Rock Lobster!
Rock Lobster!
(high pitched) Rock Lobster!
yeah, everything will be ok.

Funny, this was a thread on another board about a week ago, out of the blue.
But God, how I hate that song. And the band, as well. Not a single redeeming quality.

Google video? These people are really getting too big for their own good. Anyway, I vaguely remember the scene, without seeing it again.

It was just so funny because of the context... to pick that song as the song that got you through some tough times (and then sing it).
I've watched that episdode 6-7 times and I submit that it is the single best Family Guy episode ever. Unfortunately they followed it up with a total clunker the next week.

I think last week had its moments (not sure when the rock lobster song was though). The whole Mr. Plow riff by Stewie was hilarious yet painful.

Was that supposed to be a shot at The Simpsons, because I just read an article about them taking shots at each other after The Simpsons called a clone of Homer "Peter Griffin." I guess I didn't see that one.

yes, a bit. And yes, I do know the words to Mr Plow... but Max Power is still my favorite jingle.

thats interesting, i didnt view either inclusion a shot at the other show (homer clone or stewie's rant). i actually thought each show was giving the other a nod, like "good job".
but i can see how it can totally go the other way, too.

It was the halloween episode where Homer cloned himself. There were old pics of Homer, including the original...along with Peter :p

Here's the article I was referring to:
'Simpsons'-'Family Guy' feud escalates
'Family's' MacFarlane talks about 'Simpsons' 'slam'
NEW YORK (AP) -- "The Simpsons" took a shot at fellow Fox cartoon "Family Guy." So that series' creator is taking a shot right back.
Seth MacFarlane said an episode of "The Simpsons" where a Homer Simpson clone was identified as "Family Guy" dad Peter Griffin was "definitely a slam."
But since the "Family Guy" team dishes out plenty of its own insults, it should be able to take some, MacFarlane told Blender magazine.
"To me, Peter is much more similar to Ralph Kramden than he is to Homer, right down to his voice," he said, referring to the character from "The Honeymooners." "That's what I see. But because 'The Simpsons' and 'Family Guy' are really the only two shows of their kind of television, there'll be comparisons made."
MacFarlane said he was definitely influenced by "The Simpsons."
"I mean, in its prime, it was one of the greatest comedy shows of all time," he said. "But it's not the show it was. It can't be. You can't do 16 seasons and be consistent."

Perfect thread for this...
"What do you want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy?"
I have a couple of favorite Family Guy episodes, but "Road to Rhode Island" is definitely up there.
