View Full Version : That time of year again, more FOF2 license ramblings...

Since last year, my beloved copy of FOF2 has been unlicenseable (is that a word?). Got frustrated with the whole Windows XP/license control thing so I just left it alone. I was in conversation with Ms. Girard last October but didn't hear back.
So, I got the urge to play it again. Went to fof2forever.com and followed the steps to install it correctly again. Everything seemed to work fine until I tried to get my license. It turns out that my order ID is using all the licenses. Funny cause I only have 1 pc. Whatever...not a big deal.
So, now I am in discussions with the support crew again. Somebody emailed me and said that the order ID i gave them wasn't valid for FOF2002. I told them the game i am referring to was FOF2 not FOF2002. I explained how people here, including myself have been helped by Mary Ellen and others.
I should be hearing from them within 24 hours again. I will keep you FOF2 players posted as to what I come up with.
Rock on,
D

Got a message from tech support. They are re-issuing a license for my order ID. Looks like they still are helping with the game.
Very cool!
Now, I have to make sure I install the games in order again.

The saga continues....
Uninstalled both FOF2 and FOF2004 from my computer. Ran the utility that gets rid of the elicense program, etc. Installed FOF2 and got my new license. EXCELLENT!. Closed the program, got FOF2004 running with license. EXCELLENT! Went back to FOF2...
Error 23!!!!!!! not quite as excellent.
Here is the kicker. I was trying everything I could to get them both to work. I ran the license utility again (after I unlic. fof2004. I tried to unlic. fof2 but since the lic control was removed, it wouldn't let me open the elic control panel thing.
I went BACK to fof2 and to my suprise, the game still worked!!! Sure, fof2004 doesn't work at the moment but fof2 does with the elic control not working.
needless to say, i emailed support once again with this info. waiting to hear from them. should I reinstall windows (brown or dirty install)? that was suggested the fof2forever site...as a last resort.

doesnt fof2 have some major bugs. like injuries dont heal in the playoffs.
any other major bugs on fof2?
why do some still people like FOF2 over the current FOF 5.1d?

I like it because of the amount of time i played it when it came out. We are talking 13 hours straight and stuff.
Yeah there are major bugs like injuries in the playoffs not healing. Still, its more of a 'beat the system' game for me. I like trading that stud qb i get in the 3 round for 3 first rounders....over and over again. Because its a bit more simple, you can really cruise through a career. they way i play it, i can get through 10 years without batting an eye.
also, i usually pick the 49ers who are by far the toughest team to turn around from the start of the game. i take them and try to make them contenders by the time the last 2 expansion teams come in. Then, i take control over one of those. i still like the feature of being able to take an expansion team from nothing to everything.
Team HOF is cool too.
I guess its how some people love the original Zelda vs the latest one. the first final fantasy over ff 34 or whatever they're on.

Sorry to bump up this old thread, but it was the only one that came up in my searches for eLicense utliities.
I'm running Windows Media Center on my laptop (never had a problem with WinXP Pro or anything of the like) and had FOF2K4 installed on it.
I had gone about doing a dual-boot, setting up partitions, and thusly reloading my laptop with the recovery disks. They had reissued my licenses beforehand, since I was unable to unlicense quite a few games. In any case, I had FOF2K4 installed shortly thereafter, but decided to unlicense it from my machine. However, in my attempts to "unlicense" the software, I can't seem to access the eLicense control panel at all whatsoever.
I sent an email to Viatech inquiring about the steps to go about unlicensing FOF2K4 properly, so that I wouldn't have to request getting my license reissued, but they had sent back an email telling me they went ahead and reissued my license for it once again.
Did anyone else have this problem, and is this perhaps under another thread?

Have you tried right clicking over the .exe and selecting unlicense from the poping menu?

I did, actually! I got no "eLicense" options listed at all whatsoever. :(
Nothing under the control panel or the like, so it was essentially a "Uninstall program" or nothing.
I'm thinking this is strictly related to Windows Media Center? This never happened to me on my desktop.

I have that same problem as well and I read somewhere one time about a third party windows explorer program that would allow you to get the file open and it worked. Unfortuantely that was a long time ago and I can't remember the program. It was freeware though.

Whoa!
It worked! I'm able to unlicense again in WinXP Media Center! Thanks for the link to the thread, TrickyD. I thought I camea cross that awhile ago, but I guess my 'searches' are pretty ineffective. :(
