Not to defend Owens, because I don't like his BS, but I don't see him comparing himself to Jesus. He is refering to Jesus as someone who went through a lot more then he did, but kept going on the path he felt was right. And that Jesus had it worse then he, so why should he complain?

I don't know what version of the Bible he has, but in the version I read, they didn't just try to kill Jesus. They were pretty successful.

I think what he said more recently about "taking care of his family" is more offensive to me as a person, than the Jesus thing in general. Oh that's right, millions of dollars can't take care of a family anymore, sounds like Latrell Spreewell to me. But to each his own, apologies for saying the media twisted his words, they didn't but I do believe T.O wasn't drawing a comparison to himself, he was using Jesus as an example. A bad example, but an example none-the-less.

Don't preachers pretty much say the same types of things in their sermons every Sunday? How we should live our lives according to Jesus' example? Relating our personal issues and world issues to the struggles that Jesus endured?

Whether you a fan of TO or not, and whether you can sympathize with him or not, he is a very religious man, and this contract thing is obviously very important to him. And it seems only natural to me that someone like that would relate his own personal struggles to that of Jesus.

I don't know why people are making a big deal out of this.

I use that analogy for a lot of minor things I do in my life. It just means that I'm going to do what I think is right, no matter who tells me I'm wrong. This isn't a new saying, or phrase, or some TO made up ****.

If only more people lived without concern of what other people thought of them. As long as I live within the laws, I'll do what I want. I honestly could care less what people say or do around me.

If he has tarnished his rep to the point that the Eagles will never get anything of value for him, then I say let him rot. But there may be a team out there who needs to sell tickets so badly that they are willing to give up a high draft pick(s) to get him. In that case, I would say trade him!

How can you trade him? You'll be taking a huge cap hit for the next two years. You'd take less of a hit making him sit (which I seriously doubt he'll do for longer than maybe the first couple of games in the season).

They can fine him, request (or sue) him to repay a portion of his signing bonus for every season lost, and refuse pay him his base salary. For that reason, I would let him rot on the bench for the length of his contract until he came back with his tail between his legs. It's a no-win situation for Owens. He loses upcoming income and possibly a good portion of the money he made in the past.

Good question. He would be paying back the signing bonus to the Eagles, but probably getting a new, bigger signing bonus from his new contract with his new team.

The net cap hit of trading TO would actually be negative. Most of his bonus money was in the form of a roster bonus last year, which means it all went on last year's cap.

I can't even be pissed at TO. He is getting paid 7mil, but he is bottom line the best receiver in the game. He should be getting paid like so. Especially with contracts not being guaranteed in the NFL.

Then he should have only signed a one year contract, so his valuation can be changed at the end of the season. No one forced him to sign a 7 year deal, and it is no secret that the rules of the game are that the contracts are not guaranteed.
