NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Police are on the lookout for the naked tickler. Investigators said they believe one man could be responsible for a series of bizarre break-ins in which a naked man enters victims' rooms while they are sleeping and tries to tickle their feet.

The naked tickler struck again in New Smyrna Beach over the weekend.

Investigators have been working on five similar, unsolved cases since 2001. Most of the victims are women over age 60, said police Cmdr. Wade Kirby.

Kirby said no arrests have yet been made because they don't have a lot to go on.

New Smyrna Beach is 44 miles northeast of Orlando.

Tan-Pants Scammer

Investigators say a con man at the court house is stealing peoples’ money. The con man is being called the "Tan-Pants Scammer," and he is posing as a Wayne Co. Sheriff’s Deputy asking for change, and then he rips his victims off.

According to on officer, "Most often he has been wearing tan pants, and that has been his trademark with the people he has been able to scam. He’s varied his shirts, but he’s fairly consistent in the pants he’s been wearing."

Sheriff’s deputies say the robber walks up to unsuspecting people in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, and he pretends to be a deputy or a lawyer.

The con man asks the victim for change for a $10 or $20 bill, and when people give him the small bills, he says his brief case is around the corner and he’ll be right back. Instead, he splits with their money.

Ben Schmitt, a Free Press Reporter, was scammed by the Tan-Pants Scammer. "Basically he conned me, plain and simple," Schmitt explained. "He told me he was a sheriff’s deputy, struck up a conversation. Talked about politics. Talked about how he was frustrated waiting to testify, which I know a lot of people are waiting for court appearances, and then asked me for change for a $20."

"I think my mistake was, I told him I only had $8," Schmitt explained. "Then we kind of said goodbye, he left. He said he wished he could give me his business card, but it was in his briefcase, which was in the judge’s court room. Then he left, came back 5 minutes later he said, ‘You know what, I really need change. How about I give you a $10 for the $8?’ I said, ‘All right, here’s the $8.’ He grabbed it, and as soon as he turned the corner, it hit me. I went after him, but he was gone."

Schmitt told 7 Action New that he can usually spot a suspicious person from a mile away, but even he was conned.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wayne Co. Sheriff’s Department.

Police Hunt 'Naked Tickler' In Central Fla.

Authorities in Volusia County, Fla., are searching for a naked man who breaks into the homes of women and tickles their feet as they sleep, according to a Local 6 News report.

Investigators said a woman who was asleep in her home on Katy Drive in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Saturday woke up at about 3 a.m. and found a man wearing only a baseball cap tickling her foot.

Police said when she screamed, the man dashed across the room with his hands covering his crotch.


The woman called 911 but the man had fled the area.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is working with the New Smyrna Beach Police Department on this case since several similar incidents happened in the area in 2005.

Police only have a vague description of the culprit.

Naked Tickler' Believed Captured After Years Of Eluding Police
Police: Man Urinated In Milk Jug, Left Bodily Fluids

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- A 50-year-old man arrested after police said he urinated into milk and left bodily fluids inside a home is believed to be the naked bandit who has terrorized women for years by sneaking into their homes and tickling sleeping victims.



Police said Thomas Blacine was arrested over the weekend when a police dog tracked his scent to a sport utility vehicle parked near the 700 block of East Second Street after a woman said she was fondled in her sleep.

Investigators said Blacine's actions fit the modus operandi of a man they have been hunting since 2004 in connection with more than 12 naked intrusions into Central Florida homes.

Homeowner Linda Combs said she woke up to a naked man tickling her -- for the second time.

"I felt something on my leg and thought it was my cat and I look up and it was this naked guy," Combs said. "And he ran again."

Combs said she did not know if Blacine is the man who tickled her because she only saw his buttocks.

"I would recognize him more if there was a shot of his skinny, white butt," Combs said. "The second time he was naked as could be."

Police said Blacine has admitted to breaking into women's homes and videotaping them while they slept. However, he has not admitted to tickling women.

"It appears that he was improperly videotaping women in their homes, both awake and as they slept," New Smyrna Beach police Sgt. Mike Brouilette said. "So, we are looking into other cases that are unsolved in the area."

Officers said Blacine was videotaped performing a bizarre behavior.

"In one of the cases he was seen urinating into a half-gallon of milk," Brouilette said.

Blacine was transported to the Volusia County Jail and charged with burglary and tampering with a consumer product.
