Athletics is probably the most evolved aspects of society when it comes to race relations yet his persistant abuse of the race card makes moments of prejudice or racism lose their importance because he has cried wolf so many times.

Bullshit....2 words Jose Canseco or Mark McGwire or Jeremy Roenick or Kenny Rogers...Curt Schilling...Jason Williams (This represents ALL sports) .many American's are tired of his and their antics and all of them are white. Our country, when it comes to sports, is an equal opportunity "we are tired of you" country. When you play the race card when it doesnt apply you lose the right to play it elsewhere, when it truly is warranted. The above characters are all white and America is tired of them too, so if youre going to say TO is getting looked at differently you are simply reaching and are ignoring the other white characters (perhaps for you to buy this argument you need to ignore the facts).

BTW I do agree that the current contract system in the NFL is unfair but you need to blame the NFLPA equally for that. Nonetheless, there have been some fairly interesting pieces out there (sportswriters and sociologists) on the concept of the "Angry Black Man" in sports - some are horseshit, others are worth reading. It's still garbage. If you want to talk about the difference between the professional drafts and discuss if race plays a factor in that, more power to you. That's not what's happening with TO.

And I don't give a damn if he risked his life for a drowning kid. . . he signed a contract last year. He inked a 7 year deal. Nobody held a gun to his head and forced him to take the signing bonus or the 49 million dollar deal. Sign the one year deal, become an FA and do what you have to do.

Thing is, the outrage from people doesn't just center on the contract. Most people would agree (even the ones who are adament the Eagles should just let the bastard rot) that he signed an idiotic deal and he's worth more. Problem is, when you decide to throw your starting QB under the bus, start mentioning your name and Jesus in the same breath, and proceed to go on a bridge burning spree with both the fans and your teammates. . . you kind of lose the 50/50 crowd.

Race doesn't come into play on this one. The race card deserves to be played in certain cases. The bad part for everyone (and especially black people IMO) is that it's getting used far too often in improper situations. Then it loses its meaning for when it really should be used. That's a damned shame.

IMO the only reason he wanted to come back in the Super Bowl against advice, was so he could use it as ammo. since he knew he would be holding out. You may not be playing the race card but when SAS makes that "lil" remark, it is definitely insinutaing that the correlation is there when it certainly is not. I LISTED many exceptions that prove it is false, but I guarantee the race card will continue to be played over and over when it isn't due (which hurts those that can cry foul when it is the case) because it is better for the press to play the victim.

The basketball players leaving directly after HS are only receiving what the market will bear. I don't think anything is wrong with that.
