Anyways,
Listening to TK in the thread about a new hobby, I have been snapping more and more pics with the Digital, everywhere I go, I have the camera with me.
This past Sunday, we were at the zoo, and they have a Butterfly House, they fly free, around you, land on you and everything. I lucked out.
I got one really good shot, and one ok shot, that I truly like.
I get pretty excited with stuff like this....anyone have stuff like this they would like to share?

Thank you!
I am using Fuji FinePix A210 - 3.2 Megapixel
I am more than likely going to upgrade for christmas this year...either that, or buy a road bike.

I must have missed this thread the first time around, but Dennis, these pictures are AWESOME! The detail in the butterfly on the first post is amazing.

I'm heading to the Rockies on Tuesday and figured it was a good excuse to finally enter the world of digital cameras. After researching for a few hours, I'll be picking up a Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital ELPH. Unfortunately, I'll have to go hunting for additional SD memory(?) with only 16MB built in.
Those are some awesome shots, BTW. That first Butterfly is amazing.

Yeah, that 16 MB is a disgrace. I got a 1 GB card from Amazon, myself to augment that. Rockies make for good pictures (that's where mine are from).

Well, since I am spending the 4th by myself in Columbia, SC - I figured I would head on over to the Riverbank Zoo and Garden.
Pretty cool little place, I snapped some pics, I need to sort through them and see if any are worthy of posting...

Interesting. I also took a bunch of butterfly pics when I got my new digital albeit nothing fancy (the pictures nor the camera).

And as promised, these are the pictures I took at the zoo and gardens in Columbia that I feel turned out decent. Now, I refuse to hijack Dodgerchicks dynasty with my pics, so I will post mine here, and this thread can be for anyone to post their pics.

I really like the framing on the top picture.
What is that in the 2nd? Nevermind, I finally saw the beak. Crazy how it blended in, it looked like a multi-colored caterpillar or something.
Great pics, Macro! :)

Yeah, they had a feeding area for Lorkeets, and there were a bunch of kids trying to stuff nectar cups in front of their faces, I cut out the hand of the kid that pissed this one off.
But I was trying to get several of them together, but just could not get them in a group.

These are definitely my favorite of the pics. The top one could make a nice ad for the place and the flower definitely stands out against its background. Great job sir.

Great use of symmetry!! This is the kind of picture I would buy and hang on our wall.
http://www.to-paw.com/columbia/lorkeet1.jpg
I love how the bird is off center and how you incorporated more leaves.
http://www.to-paw.com/columbia/happybear.jpg
There's something about incorporating more of the background that makes an off center shot look amazing. Also, the reflection in the background also adds to the depth of this pic.
http://www.to-paw.com/columbia/waterbell.jpg
Did you use a fast shutterspeed with this shot? Looks like it given the freeze action of the water. I love the rainbow in the background.
http://www.to-paw.com/columbia/fountain.jpg
Another great use of symmetry. Like my comment above, I love the freeze action of the water.
Beautiful pictures MacroGuru. I have a tendency to center too many of my shots and your pictures have given me confidence to go outside my comfort zone.
Oh yeah, and my Photography Dynasty Thread (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=50843) is a learning platform so feel free.

Antmeister and Dodgerchick,
Thank you for your comments, they help the budding amateur photographer.
In response to your questions about shutterspeed with the water, I did use a faster shutterspeed to capture it, I love water shots to where it looks frozen in time.

Believe it or not, only 3x, I don't even own a DSLR (Which is getting purchased this month).
Right now, the camera I use for travel is an HP Photosmart M415, however I am able to adjust almost everything I need to with it, I have been slowly limping a long with this camera until the wife gave the OK for the DSLR purchase, which she has, thanks to DC's pictures and some others I have shown her as well.

I was going to walk around Historic Savannah and take some pictures today, but the Moon River Brewing company was calling my name, and I had to try out the sampler.
However, before I went there, I did drive around the Savannah Wildlife Refuge, and this made me wish for the DSLR and a higher zoom, I will try and get the pics up later.

Ahh... okay. I was curious because some cameras have the capability to do that.
The kehouse is a postcard-type shot, I LLLLLOOOOVVVEE IT!. Nice framing using the tree branch.
