Frist isn't going to get elected President. But it's almost funny seeing him try. Of course, he was a doctor. So, I think a lot of folks hoped he'd bend on stem cell.

You really need to check the site to get the full blown excitement, but here's the tiny article. I have no clue who his source is.

In a break with Bush, Senate Republican leader Bill Frist will support bill to expand fed financing for embryonic stem cell research -- will announce decision in morning with lengthy Senate speech... MORE...

Not almost, it is funny to think he has a future in national politics http://dynamic.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Will be interesting if true, stem cell research is definitely one of those issues that cuts across party boundaries, there are a lot of Republicans who support it, and Frist probably sees it as a way he could get some separation from the current administration.

The main news outlets are running with the story, so I'd say it's true. There's a quote from his speech which basically says (I'm paraphrasing) "I'm pro-life. I believe life begins at conception. But I also believe in stem cell research." I'll bet the pro-life base is going to love that.
