I'm sure you all know about it by now, but for any of you that might have missed it...

Forecastfox is a really neat extension for Firefox for weather stuff. You tell it your zip code and it uses AccuWeather to put your weather where you want it...you can put it in the menubar, in the navigation bar, in the bookmarks toolbar, or the status bar (in the bottom of your window). Then there are a few options you can set with it. There is an option for "Severe Weather" so a little icon shows up when there's an alert for your region. There is an option for the radar, so that if you scroll your mouse over the icon, you can see the regional doppler. Then, there are options for current conditions, today's forecast, and the extended forecast, all of which you can enable or disable. Me, I have mine set for just showing the radar and the current conditions.

I took a screen capture of the upper-right section of my Firefox (which is where I have Forecastfox displaying) in case you wanted to see how it looks...

Oh yeah, also if you click on the icons, it opens up your local AccuWeather page. Anyway...you can get the extension at https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=398

I'm sort of partial to this one:

U.S. Homeland Security Threat Level - Firefox Extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&id=352&vid=1084)

Browse safe with the color-coded Homeland Security warning level. :D

A nice feature in the options is the ability to set the number of forecast days - I've got mine set to 7, which gives me an quick idea of what the upcoming week will be like. Although that gets a little depressing when you get 7 rain icons lined up in a row.

The severe weather alert doesn't seem to work for Canada, though. I've turned on the TV a few times and found a tornado/funnel cloud warning when nothing was mentioned on ForecastFox.

I've used ForcastFox for the last 3-4 months and think it's great. I've noticed the same problem that JeffR mentioned here in west Texas, but it's usually been the warning sign long after the warning has expired for the area.

Otherwise, it's a great extension.
