Werewolf X: Warring Families And A Madman.

Uh. I wanted to try moderating a Werewolf game. Care to help me out? :) I need 15 players in this one. This is a variation of the Werewolf Game, called Mafia.

Backstory: You all live in a small village in Sicily, there have been rumors that contingents of two Mafia families exist within your small village, but it has not bothered you until you discover that there is a gold deposit located to the south of the village. It will surely bring prosperity to your village, and the money would help alleviate the lives of everyone. This alerts the two Mafia families, and they immediately set forth to take over the village, and the gold.

Roles:

DeLena Family:

Victory Condition: The family wants gold, and you need to deliver. You know that the Santadio family is shacked up in the village, you just don't know who they are. You must kill all members of the opposing family, AND gain a 1-1 ratio with the villagers. Your family can choose one person to kill each night.

2 Soldiers - Basic grunts. No Skill.
1 Lieutenant - Special Skill: Once per night, you can check to see who is an investigator (you will know if he is the investigator for your family or not)..

Santadio Family:

Victory Condition: The family wants gold and you need to deliver. know that the DeLena family is shacked up in the village, you just don't know who they are. You must kill all members of the opposing family, AND gain a 1-1 ratio with the villagers. Your family can choose one person to kill each night.

2 Soldiers - Basic grunts. No Skill.
1 Lieutenant - Special Skill: Once per night, you can check to see who is an investigator (you will know if he is the investigator for your family or not).

Local Police:

The Local Police know who each other are, but they have gone undercover so as to avoid detection by the families.

Victory Condition: Both families must be killed.

1 Officer - Can choose to protect one person from being killed each night. Can choose self, cannot choose the same person in consecutive nights.

1 DeLena Investigator - Once per night, you can check to see who is a part of the DeLena Family.

1 Santadio Investigator - Once per night, you can check to see who is a part of the Santadio Family.

Villagers:

Victory Condition: You must kill all the mafia members, and aid the police to ensure that the Village gets that gold. Try not to get the cops killed. ;)


5 Regular Villagers - You are all regular villagers. No skills, sorry.... or am I telling the truth? :)

1 Serial Killer - As if things weren't bad enough. There is supposedly a madman on the loose within the village. You have one objective. Survive. If the villagers or one of the Mafia Families win, you automatically win. You are counted as a Villager. You have two choices each night, A. Kill someone or B. Protect yourself from being killed. You cannot choose the same option two nights in a row.

Special Roles:

There is at least one special role in the game that nobody in the Village knows about. Remember AT LEAST one. :)

RULES:

I know it might seem like the odds are against the villagers, but I'm yet to finalize my rules. Sorry it's my first time. :)


Dawn Phase - Whoever's dead will be discovered, his room will be rummaged and his role revealed.


Day Phase - Everyone decides to vote on who to "throw down the well". There's a big well in the middle of town... and well, if you fall in you don't climb back out. :) Once someone is thrown down the well, his room is rummaged and his role is revealed.

Night Phase - The Lieutenants and Investigators do their views, the Officer does his protect, the Mafia do their killing, The Serial Killer decides which path to pursue. (You all send in your PMs)

Addt'l Rules:

- If a target is selected to be killed at night by multiple factions, the two factions spook each other off, the target lives and no kill happens.

- Roles will be revealed upon death.

- The family members don't know who the members of the opposing family are. Family members may PM amongst themselves.

- The Local Police know who each other are, AND may PM amongst themselves. They ARE to be considered as Villagers in the count.

I think I covered it all. Obviously, this will be an interaction-based Werewolf game... relying less on me sending PM's, but you guys determining who your peers are. Usual times used in the X-Com Werewolf game will probably apply.

As soon as we get 15 guys to sign up, I'll start with Night 0, no kills allowed as of yet, only the Investigators and Lieutenants can use their night powers. :)

He was the only person who probably knew everyone in town... last night he mention something about two Mafia families in town, hiding policemen and a madman on the loose. Most of you easily dismissed his suspicions, after all, it was probably the thought of all that unmined gold that was swirling in his head. Now he's dead... shot with a single bullet below the chin. Accusations are hurled... and you all feel that someone will have to be blamed... the gold is far too important for the Mafia to take over... the village needs the money... someone will die at the end of this day. You pray that it is not you.

As the day ends, you gather around Blade6119, throwing question after question at him, claiming him to be some kind of mobster. Blade is quick to defend himself saying that he could not be a mobster since he is the Regional Magistrate of this region. He reveals the seal of the Italian Parliament, and you know that the is undoubtedly speaking the truth. Blade turns towards Dubb93.

"You, however, are a highly dubious character... and I certainly don't buy your act! Throw him down the well!!!"

Dubb93 is quickly bound by the frenzied lot. He screams in protest... "Brother! Help me! Brother!" He is made silent by a swift blow to the nape with a jagged rock. You throw him down the well, and hear a small splash... a bit of thrashing, ad then silence.

Everyone rushes into Dubb93's room. You look at his things, and see nothing of note. There is, however, a picture of two children standing side by side... memories of better times?

Dubb93 was a Villager, and one of the two Brothers!

You head into the night, unsure of what is to come. You do know that the Mafia are all well and alive... and that they can strike anyone at any time.

Night 1 has begun, please send your actions (Mafia, Cops, Serial Killer and Seer-types) before 9 AM tommorow (the sooner, the better)

I voted dubb before anyone else even started talking...dubb voted me(his words) because i voted for him and had annoyed him last game)...i switched my vote to schmidty when i got home from work since schmidty was closest to the 5 votes i had on me...i think schmidty is good, but thats just me...i only voted him hoping i wouldnt have to use my power...what makes me think it? As a newbie to these games (I did read the two most recent though) I really did not compare past "bad guy" roles vs "good guy" roles. I did however look how people played their roles. I know it's not always accurate, but was worth a shot. I voted Schmidty because I saw him on several times today and after the first vote was cast his way with no response so it still makes me wonder. The only known for tonight is Blade. However, I do have a list of suspects I'm keeping a close eye on. I'd post an analysis, but it seems the people who do that seemed to get wacked the next day.

I dunno... I posted a lot of analysis during X-Com, and I survived the whole game. Then again, I don't think any of the analysis was any good. :p

My concern at the moment is since Blade's role is now revealed, he's likely a target of the Mafia. I think we're going to see two mafia hits tonight, along with a madman kill. Since the mafia is interested in getting villagers to a 1:1 ratio, this might be bad for Blade. Dubb's death sucks, but maybe it'll keep the mafia at bay, and maybe they'll look to hunt someone else, knowing blade's role.

Now that I think of it, Blade's likely at the mercy of the mafia. Sounds bad, but maybe he'll stay alive for a bit. I'm not sure if his role allows him to switch the vote every time or not...or if it's just to save his own hide.

With the Santadio Lieutenant standing over KWhit's body, Kwhit manages to utter a couple of words... "The DeLenas are going to take ov-" The Santadios don't let him finish... a pair of gunshots later and its over. They're quite pleased with themselves and head back to their houses.

You all wake up the next morning. You all heard the gunshots... and were afraid to go out and see what transpired. KWhit's body is riddled with three bullets. And he lies, dead on the pavement. After disposing of his body at the Well, you all go into his room. In it, was a box with letters... secret exchanges between a DeLena Grunt and two unnamed accomplices. You feel at ease that at least one of the Mafia is now dead.

You notice that SnDvls is missing. You head into his room... and find him, garrotted... an obvious mark of a Mafia-kill. After you dispose of his body at the Well, you browse through his things. You find the same picture that was found in Dubb93's room! Without a doubt, SnDvls was a Villager and one of the Brothers!

You all know that someone will be killed at the end of the day. You can now confirm that the Mafia are here in your village.

Ok I think this needs to be said. Henry and I are Masons. We have no special powers except that we know that each other are just simple masons (i.e. villagers).

I think it is important to reveal this information for a couple of reasons;

1) The villagers are few and far between and it is important that we don't kill ourselves like yesterday
2) The mobsters should feel more threatened at this point by the other mob who have a oppurtunity to kill them in the evening. They will ultimatley want to kill the villagers and police but their top priority is on the other mob.
3) If I was the Madman I'd be more concerned about these night attacks then anything else, my top objective would be to kill mobsters. You are ofcourse a villager in the final counting.

About the only thing Qwikshot's done so far is issue a blanket denial when I cast a highly non-scientific vote for him on Day 1.

I don't, I just look at him as a villager who can kill. He gets nothing out of the mobsters winning. He needs to survive, and therefore needs the villagers to win. His only objective should be to kill all the mobsters.

IMO his role would better be described a "Vigilante" rather then a madman.

If you want him to be a madman maybe you'd change his Victory Condition to: Will win if you survive, if the mobsters get a 1:1 ratio you will be able to run away and avoid certain death. This condition would atleast motivate the madman to win on both sides

That's a low blow, I'd guess anybody who's played more than one of these games has at least one vote that they've regretted. Heck, I'm not happy with how my first vote has worked out in any of the three games I've played. In the first one, I started a bandwagon on a simple bandit (and wound up with a situation where people were choosing between two). In the second, I cast the deciding vote for an X-Com over an alien. In this one, I failed to change my vote and as a result, Blade was outed and used his skill to kill a villager.

What makes us so sure? Couldn't Qwik be apart of the DeLana family trying to save MrBug who has been suspicous today. It makes sense since they are already down one man and Qwik would hate to see them be down 2 guys after day 2.

Since all the actions came in early, this goes up early.

The Serial Killer walks in between the Shadows... headed for the home of his target. MrBug708 opens the door... it seems like he's off to go someplace, but the Serial Killer swiftly stabs him in the throat with his knife. MrBug708 staggers back, and tries to breathe, blod spurting out of his throat and mouth. The Serial Killer walks inside and stands over MrBug708...

"This is going to hurt you more... than it'll hurt me..." Says the Serial Killer with a smile. MrBug708's eyes go wide as the Serial Killer goes on a rampage.

The next morning... you all wake up... and notice that MrBug708 is nowhere to be found. You all head to his room, and are shocked... you find his body, full of stab wounds... his chest, opened... his heart, missing. After throwing his mutilated body down the Well, you look at his belongings... letters? It was clear that he was talking with the DeLenas... he was the DeLena Lieutenant.

You all feel uneasy... only one kill? You expected gunshots at the very least... and got none...

Bug piled his vote on me very shortly after Eaglesfan voted for me, for no real reason. At that point, Mr. Bug was in trouble, so I think maybe Eaglesfan was trying to save his Lieutenant.

Ok I've been racking through my mind the things that could have happened last night, I came up with a few scenarios

1) The Santadio mobsters were mad that Qwikshot pointed a finger at AE and probably assumed he was a policeman so they attack him. At the same time the DeLena mobsters recognized that Qwikshot may have some viewing abilities but realize that he isn't in the DeLena mob therefore he must be a cop. So because of this they also attack him. The two attack nullified themselves

2) One of the mobs attacked someone and the guard cop protected that person. The other mob decided not to attack anyone (not likely)

3) Both mobs decided not to attack (not likely)

4) Both mobs picked a person other then Qwikshot randomly and nullified their attacks.
