I want to put a plug in for anyone who is sick of paying $7-$10 per issue to read World Soccer or Four Four Two, that now there is another choice.
Striker Magazine (http://www.strikermag.com/) is a magazine that not only has good articles on US soccer, but good articles about world player, and follows the world scene. It is a steal for 19.97 (8 issues) for a year.
The only drawback is that they are only publishing 4 issues for this year (the second just came out), but that they are planning on publishing 8 next year.
I think that it is better than Soccer America as it focuses strictly on Mens Soccer and all over the world with good American coverage as well, and good photos. For me this is a welcome relief.
Give it a try!

Interesting...Been looking for a good mag that has a focus on the US plus world coverage....
Thanks for the heads up.

Anybody read Soccer America? It seems pricey, but I just signed up for a couple free trial issues to give it a test drive. I think it's a bi-weekly mag.

an american soccer magazine is kind of like a chinese magazine about democracy.

I agree, this magazine is worth a look for soccer fans who have not seen it yet.

Yeah, I just happened to see this a couple weeks ago and picked it up...I nearly didn't since it had that gooner on the cover, but ultimately I decided to give it a shot.
Not a bad mag, really. I'll prolly look for the next issue, might eventually get a subscription.

I always go and read 4-4-2 at B&N (never buy it though) - while the rantings against money and what not get old, they are rip-roaringly hilarious, and their feature length articles are always impressive.

I have subs to 442 and World Soccer, the latter VERY pricey for delivery to the US, but worth it as it gives good coverage to the entire world.
Striker seems pretty good, I may get a sub to that as well.

I have looked into that but I couldn't get the bank to accept my children as collateral for the loan I needed for the subsciptions. :D
Hence my happiness over the new mag.

I can only afford it because I'm single ;)

Anyone get the most recent addition?

It's probably just me but I always feel like I'm reading the soccer version of SLAM or whatever (which it is, I believe). I think I'm just easily annoyed by I don't really need my footie info hip-hop'ified.

So much for this good idea.
From Harris Publications in an email:
The magazine has now been discontiuned, refunds will follow shortly.
That sucks.
