Can anyone who is in IT auditing or has gone through a IT audit dealing with Sarbanes Oxley, answer a question ? WhaT is the difference between section 404 and section 302 of Sarbanes-Oxley. I have an interview for a new job and it deals with Sarbanes-Oxley and I had this question after reviewing some stuff on SOX.

Do you mean 404 (not 4004). I just went through an IT Audit, I'll see if the auditors are still on site (thought I saw them this morning...)

Sorry, auditors left the buildings..
I thought 404 deals with Internal Controls in place and an independent auditor verifying those controls are in place while 302 deals with a CEO/CFO doing the certification of reports... I could be way off base though in my limited knowledge. You could probably Google all sorts of info though.

Dola,
Most likely you would be going through 404
