Wow.

I was thinking about this the other day. I was wondering if they'd keep him around, even though Beattie and Flanagan knew he needed another arm in the rotation, and another big bat. I thought they would keep him, just because they knew he didn't quite have all the pieces yet. Then we went on this 8 game skid.

I never thought it would happen during the season, but can't say that I am dissapointed.

His contract expired after this season anyway. I was just thinking he might not make it through the weekend.

He had an option for 2006, which probably would have been declined. I won't be surprised to see B & F gone at the end of the season either, or Beattie go and Flanagan be the lone GM.

Ken Rosenthal was on Cold Pizza this morning and said that there are strong rumors of Angelos selling the team in the offseason.

The thing that bothered me the most about him was he relied too much on Sosa. Three months into the season, Sammy isn't hitting, and he continues to bat him in the middle of the order. Sammy couldn't even put the ball in play to advance the runners, instead he would strike out, or hit in to DPs. That's a lot of wasted opportunities.

Then finally Sammy goes on a little mini-streak, where he was hot for 4 games or so, and Mazzilli bats him in the 2 hole. Unbelievable. The guy strikes out WAY too much to hit 2nd.

Last night he dropped him down to 6, about 3 months overdue.

Wow for a minute there I thought the topic read, "Leo Mazzone Fired". I couldn't believe they would fire him for the crap that is Danny Kolb. Err, sorry for the threadjack. Back to your regularly scheduled O's chatter.
