How did you guys and gals meet your significant other (wife, finance, ect.), and when did you know he/she was it?

Are you asking us because you are asking yourself (if she might be the one)?
OR
Is it just a topic starter, like a get to know you mixer game?
If it's the former, we need backround info.

No...I am single and happy. Of course, I'm 21, so I'm not quite ready for that part of that life (though in a few years, that will prolly change). I just though of it as topic starter.

Before I met my wife, I took a picture of her while she was shopping. After I put the picture on the Internet (on my "pictures of women shopping" page), she decided that she had to meet me. After I got acquainted with the business end of some kung fu, she figured that I was decent enough to marry.
I'm probably lying.

Well, I guess I bit at this one.
I met my wife while we were working at the same restaurant. We knew each other for a year before anything happened between us. The company that I worked for was pretty strict of fraternization, and as a manager I could get into a world of trouble.
The short of the long is that alcohol was involved and one thing led to another and we both thought that was going to be it. It wasn't. The funny thing is that she got the phone number of a customer that was interested in me the same day that we hooked up. That only lasted for a few dates though. Good thing too, it could have been awkward. She started looking for a job, and we tried to be subtle. I told my boss, after she had found a job, and was turning her notice in. The rest of crew put all the pieces together the same day too. Lucky for me I beat them to the punch. My boss took it alright, and it all worked out ok.
While we were dating a friend told me that I needed to seriously consider her. He was much wiser than I at the time. He pointed out that she complemented me very well, and put up with me in a way that many, many other women would never. On top of that she is very attractive. I kept thinking about what he said, but it was still almost 8 months later before I asked her. I didn't want to rush, and she was tired of waiting. I still don't know what I was waiting for. I could see us spending the rest of our lives together, always being there for each other and imagining sharing things, and growing old together. Once I realized what I was seeing and thinking the choice was simple.
This year is our 5th anniversary. We have 3 boys. We are soul mates and are commited to the same vision of our lives as we were the day that we got married.

Well to be perfectly honest. She had one before we met, but I adopted him, before the others came along. He is as much mine as the other two.

Radii and I met online, I was actually going on to delete my profile - I was tired of the dating thing and was going to take a break...he had just messaged me, so I responded and gave him an email address where we could talk. We met for a date and hit it off, dated for about 6 months, then I ended it. There was something missing but I couldn't figure out what it was...about 3 months later I got an email from him asking about some CD's I'd borrowed...that led to some lengthy emails talking stuff out and after about a week we met for lunch and I think we both knew right away that whatever had been missing before wasn't missing anymore. We pretty much moved in together a couple days later and were engaged within a month of that email. Married a year later and 10 months later - here we are :)
Met at a bus stop at 12:30am. :D Never saw her before...she came up to me and asked when the next bus came. We kept chatting and I got her digits. We set up a date, and then another, and then another, and...now we've been married for 1.5 yrs (getting married on the 4 yr anniversary of when we met at the bus stop). Hard to answer the second part of your Q.

Met my wife in college. Both of us were not doing well academically and needed to take a summer course, which was Appreciation of Music. I sat in the row ahead of her in our class at the University of Delaware. I was so bored in the class she saw me drawing on my notebook and started a conversation with me. From that day on, we started hanging out and going to bars/parties. She was the greatest woman I had ever met, great personality and the most beautiful, the whole package. She understood my sarcasm and dished it right back at me. She has the same exact odd sense of humor as I do as well. And she loved football, which made it even better. We dated for 7 years (long distance for 3) and just got married about a month ago.

I met my wife in college (University of MD). She had a boyfriend for the first year and a half that I knew her, and I really couldn't stand her. She disagreed with just about everything I said, which with having the same major, was many classes. One day she came in and said that she broke up with her boyfriend and I asked her what she was doing that evening, and we haven't looked back. She still has not seen the light and disagrees with just about everything I say lol.

Fantastic place on Main St. to watch Sunday football and get hammered. Not sure what is new on Main Street as I havent been there since 2000.
Too many damn Eagles and Giants fans though was the only drawback.

Met online. Well, sort of. Kinda. It was in a computer lab at NC State, first day of my junior year of college. She was sitting at a station diagonally from me with her friend straight across, so I was looking at them directly. I noticed them laughing and discussing and made a hunch that she was on IRC, so I got on as well and started talking to her. The whole time she didn't notice that I was only five feet away. I eventually had to go to class, so I logged off and walked over to them. I asked the both of them out (I was more interested in her, but didn't want to leave her friend out of things), which they agreed to. Her friend does catch the signal however, and bails out, leaving us to go out alone. Other than a handful of days here and there, we haven't been apart since.
I can't say there was a point where she was "the one". It was more that we spent so much time together that it became difficult to see life any other way. I'm fond of saying that the most anti-climatic moment in our relationship was when I asked her to marry me. :)

I'm surprised by the number of people who met online...
once upon a time, I worked at a supermarket with the future Mrs DD as well as TCY utilitarian Fido. Christine and I liked each other, but both had existing SOs from hell, and when she transferred to another store about an hour away I figured that was that. but it wasn't.
a couple months later, Fido also transferred to that same store, and when it came time for our lame store Christmas party, I invited Fido and his wife and sort of off-handedly suggested he bring Christine as well. Really was a rather innocent request (I was not aware she, like me, was now single), but we ended up hitting it off really well (despite the fact that I was EXTREMELY intoxicated when I arrived...and it went downhill from there). That almost was the end of it though, because through a series of misunderstandings, she thought I had gone home with another girl (I had, but it was just a platonic thing).
a couple days later, I interofficed her a picture of the 2 of us at the party with some clever caption on the back, and she called up and we made plans to go out that weekend with the Fidos and another couple (I had to break plans with the platonic friend from the previous paragraph, essentially guaranteeing that one would stay platonic). After the dinner, we all ended up at Fido's apartment, and eventually Christine and I ended up on the couch together. At some point, she commented that I had big arms, to which I responded with the classic "I'm big all over"...and the rest pretty much was history. Woke up after a rather uncomfortable night sleeping half on the couch half on the floor to discover that the Fido's had a guest bedroom.
I met my wife in high school. I was a senior and she was a sophmore. We dated for 7 years before we got married. By then there was pretty much no doubt she was the one, but I really would've never even bothered if I didn't think that from the beginning. That's just the kind of person I am.

Met my wife, my senior year in high school, we were at the local club dancing. I was pretty weak when it came to women, and she was straight up.
I walked up to my friend as she was talking to him, and I was awestruck. As she walked away, I turned to my buddy and said "Damn, I would love some of that" she overheard me, and turned around and was "What did you say"
I sat there, stumbling over my words when my friend said...."He said he wants you" she turned and looked me straight in the eyes and said "Tell him if he wants me, he can have me"
We hung out all night that night at the club, I got her digits, tried to call her all weekend, but she was out.
We hooked up that tuesday night after, dated for about 3 years, and then tied the knot.
We have been married for 9 years now, have 2 beautiful kids, and we have one on the way (I think he is due around the time Arlie and Farrah are, the 26th).

I met the fiancee' when the both of us were working at good old Wendy's...I was 22 and she was 17. I knew she had a crush on me, but I kind of kept her on the back burner while I messed around with a couple of other girls. She actually asked me out first...she came by work one day and asked if I wanted to grab lunch with her, but I had gone to a bufett with my best friend earlier and was completely stuffed, so I told her that I would have liked to but wasn't hungry. Luckily, she didn't hold it against me and when I asked her out a week later she said yes.
I knew we had something pretty special fairly early on. Our second date was at an Abilene Prairie Dogs baseball game, and as y'all know, baseball games are rather long and drawn out. Well, there were a number of pauses in the conversation, but they weren't uncomfortable...something I wasn't used to with other girls. It was great feeling like we didn't have to find something to talk about every second that we were together...we could just be in each other's company and enjoy the time together.

Met her my freshman year in college. She was a year ahead of me and we dated through college. We broke up several times while dating (at least once a year) -- and the last she told me she wanted to break things off, I told her I was finished with her. We were both physically sick for the next two days from heartbreak. We got back together on the third day and got married six months later. This December 17 will be 22 years of marriage.

Hmm, let's see. Not to sound bad, but I met my wife when she was in HS and I was a sub. No ideas!!! :) At the time, I obviously thought she was young and kind of dorky, she flirted shamelessly (she'll even admit that) Then we met up a few years later, she wasn't so young and dorky anymore. I hardly even recognized her. Still, we dated for awhile and eventually got married. We currently have one son, and are trying for another (daughter hopefully)

but he's not bitter....
As for myself and Telle, we met on a Ew-Too style talker/chatroom in 1995, talked and became friends and two years later she told me she loved me, to which I utterly freaked out and she had to drag me kicking and screaming into the relationship (I'm 10 years older than she is) I visited her in college for awhile and then got a job in the city nearby and we moved in together a couple years later. We've lived together ever since and finally married in 2003. One lovely Rendering has come into the world and we hope to add to that total soon!
