I recently received a new laptop from work, which we are "allowed" to use for personal use. On my old laptop, I was able to play games which required an e-license for registration. The old laptop had Win98, while the new laptop has XP. I am able to download and play the demos (FOF, OOTP, TPF) but as soon as I license the game, all I get is an hourglass icon, and the game does not load. I contacted both the game manufacturer's and e-license support, and no one has been able to come up with a solution which works. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing my games not to boot up? Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Hvae you modified the ms config settings any? I know that I couldn't play because I turned off the eliscense program(which is hidden and looks useless). But I doubt that is it, because you just got it from work.

check in control panel/administrative options/services to see if LicCtrl is started. Otherwise i have no idea.

E-license was started, so unfortunately that was not the problem

Id check your internet connection, as its possible that your firewall may not allow the elicense software to validate with their website. Unless im not understanding where your problem is.

Can you keep runservice.exe running as a process? I had a problem a few months ago where it would immediately terminate, resulting in the problem you have now.

I had this problem a few months back. There's nothing you can do as far as I'm aware... send viaTech an email via their support form and they will email you a program that will uninstall, reinstall (had to run it it twice interestingly on their instructions) and you will be fine.

I hope you have kept a record of your license numbers :)

DOLA - you mention you have already e-mailed viaTech. Very strange as I had the exact same problem.

BSelig - How do I know if runservice is running as a process?

BHolly - I have kept all of my license numbers, I can not remember if Viatech had me uninstall and then re-install. I will have to contact them again and see if they have any solutions.

Thank you all for the feedback
