Ive been contracted by an insurance company to find out how much time an employee spends using a keyboard. In this case, it needs to transparently log all time spent typing. Im not at all familiar with keyboard logging software, but searching google for this is really annoying, as the vast majority of results are 'spy on your s.o!' software. Ive used project timers before, but in this case they specifically need to it trigger each time the adjuster uses the keys and only the keys. So its a sudo keylogger/timer type deal.
Can anyone help me out?

Have you tried some place like download.com & checked the cNet reviews?
I just did a search for "keylogger" & got back 80 programs but those are sortable by cNet review rating, etc, so it looked pretty manageable.
The only direct experience I've had with software of this type was maybe 8-10 years ago & that was actually a custom-written piece of software (which did actually reveal some interesting & useful info about the work habits of several employees).

Well, a few more creative searches in google pointed me in the right direction. If anyone wants to see how badly they type, or how much time they spend typing, allow me to recommend....

Thanks John, but the logging part was mucking up my search. I dont need to log what they type, just how much time a day they spend pressing the ole keys. That one I found isnt perfect, but I think its doable.
Thanks for the response!

No problem, I think I was posting at the same time you were posting your success in finding something.

Why does a company need to know how much time someone spends typing?

To see if it's worthwhile to hire a secretary could be one possibility.
But there are just tons of efficiency issues that could be resolved from this data.

Ah. Interesting I guess. I used to clean offices when I was 18, that was the closest I ever came to an office job. Office Space is were I obtained most of my knowledge on the subject.
