They seem to make more sense than the non-parody threads.

Huzzah. Nothing like having a significant number of people in favor of 5 threads a day that are just worthless piles of cyber space.

i realize i am quite new here, so my opinion is understandably less than others, but i just wanted to explain why i enjoy the parodies...on another site which i am very active on, we have thread parodies all the time, but they are always placed on a part of the forums that you can avoid if you dont want to deal with them, and there are about 3 dozen admins that monitor them to make sure they are not offensive to anyone, so it pretty much ensures that they are nothing but just bad puns (usually sexually oriented ones) that mimic the title of another thread...they are never personal or anything like that, just stupidly amusing...hence, i enjoy them.

You are way too angry for someone so young and tender.

I enjoy them if you have to think a while before you realize its a parody.

I haven't seen a good one in some time, but they do happen from time to time so I'm all for them.

Parody threads kinda jumped the shark after "What's in your gun chest?" became "What's in your wife's chest?"
They might be more appropriate for real life. Someone on the street stops and asks, "Do you have the time?" You reply with, "Do you have The Rhyme?" And then you casually explain while the other person nervously shifts their eyes that The Rhyme is a radio station found on XM. They might laugh, they might not, but it's worth a shot.

I'm all for the maximum amount of parody threads. It's hard to find a sharpshooter unless you're willing to test anyone who's got a rifle.

Like any other knockoff, the first one is funny and each successive one is less and less amusing until you eventually hit rock bottom.
They are like reality show knockoffs -- they are fine until you get to the reality competition show with people competing about giving a dog a bath.
I gave up a long time ago. If people want to masturbate on a message board, why should I bother to stop them. Clearly 60% of FOFC thinks they are a douchebag for posting a parody thread but they don't care, so why should I?

I think they are great if they are well done, and there aren't too many of them in a short period of time. It seems to go in waves though, one or two really good ones will get posted, then everyone thinks they are a comedian and all of a sudden there or 4 or 5 on the board. Then it's too much.

They junk up the board, yes, but it's usually a bad dream: they're at the bottom of the page by the end of the hour.
I'm wondering, has a parody thread outlasted its original version?
