Verbal description for someone away from the TV?
Pass is thrown, Matt Jones reaches up, with his arm fully extended and makes a one handed catch

Do they also have a clip of that pass he dropped in the 3rd quarter?

Probably not, but to be fair, a guy playing a new postion for the first year is expected to drop a few passes, he is not expected to make a one-handed grab like that.

Can we get that thread title changed from Matt Jones-OMG to Matt Jones-OMFG?

Wolfpack
08-26-2005, 02:33 PM
I think I need to see that in a broader view. That ground level view doesn't really convey to me what everyone here thinks was an awesome catch. I don't want to say that one-handed catches are nothing special, but that didn't make me say "Oh, wow!" just now.

rkmsuf

that title is a tad effeminate.

korme
08-26-2005, 02:37 PM
that title would be a tad more f dominant.
that's what i was going for

Kinda what Wolfpack said, it's a helluva catch, but I'm not sure that it's one that quite lives up to the expectations I had from all the rave reviews.

I wonder: How much of the praise is "wow whatta catch" vs "wow whatta catch from a guy who isn't really a WR".

I agree that was a crappy angle

all I can hear when I read that is like a girlie voice saying "OMG, did you see that Matt Jones. He's a dreamboat."

I guess if one watches a lot of football over the years, this is not all that special.

That's right. All of us that were impressed by the catch hasn't watch enough football.

7 months without football can make fans eager for anything. He made a nice catch but the board would be flooded with such threads during the season, esp. if some Falcons did something that the world has to hear about. ;)

I saw the catch live and was incredibly impressed by it. One fo the things that clip doesn't show really well is the conditions on the field. He made that catch with rain coming down in sheets. I'd have been impressed with anyone who made that catch, let alone a guy who many said was a bust before he set foot on an NFL field.

The guy has some serious talent.

The stadium erupted with that catch, probably the highlight of the whole game for Jax fans. Although the "Freddy" chant when the offense took the field was pretty nice.

By halftime most folks had split b/c it was really, really pouring. Infact, my pants and shoes are still wet. Good times. BTW - I was down in #113.

Only reason I'm watching a pre season football game that doesn't involve Denver is the fact I was watching it on my new 51" HD TV. When I turned it to ESPN regular, you could see the rain, but it wasn't all that noticable.

When you turned it to HD, it was simply pouring. About as hard of rain as I've ever seen at a football game. (Miami/VaTech a few years ago was pretty bad as well, or maybe it was Miami/ECarolina)

Anyway, in those conditions, it made the catch a lot better than what it would have been in normal conditions. In my mind it turned a "good" catch into a "great" one. Just my opinion of course.

Yep on HD, you could see how it was just coming down like crazy (tail end of the hurricane, I'm sure). I'm surprised the QBs could see that far down the field it was coming down so hard.

The new homosexuality angle this thread has taken makes me read this post completely differently.
