So, does anyone know how to get chewing gum out of carpet? There is a well-stepped on piece in ours right now that has been there since last night...we put ice on it, but it doesn't seem to be helping, any ideas?

I seem to remember a similar thread a few weeks (months?) ago. I think the answer was hairspray.

However, I also seem to remember some people saying it was going to have to be cut out and replaced with a like piece of carpet.

Just don't chew gum in the future.

I suggest replacing the carpet, could turn out to be a lot easier ;)

Short of that, there's some ideas here (my favorite might be the carpet cleaner guy who says they use freon to freeze it, then hammer it into a million pieces)

For those of you who are wondering (and i hope there really aren't too many), my roommate ended up doing some clipping off of the gum without getting too much of the carpet off...but thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, goo be gone is good, but ultimately we had to replace the carpet. Ahhh... little ones.
