why I'm taking this Electronic Systems course through Southern Illinois University? I'm on my lunch break, and just sat through the first four hours of class.

We breezed through 50% of the stuff we teach in my schoolhouse (Apprentice Technical Training. Basic electronics for the Navy) in those four hours. I don't actually instruct at the schoolhouse, so concepts are flying past me like crazy. I remember some of it from my days as a sailor/student (8 years ago), and some from just walking around the schoolhouse, but mercy. I'm not liking this right now.

You wanted to be able to call yourself a Saluki?

And really, isn't that reason enough?

Well, my first weekend is over. Things slowed down in the second half of the day and today. We had a 45 question quiz that I think I did well on.

I have a research paper due in four weeks, which should be interesting. I haven't done anything like this since about 1993. I probably didn't do it back then, either.

Well, I aced the first quiz, and I think I aced the second, which I took yesterday. My paper is going to be on organic light emitting diodes.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Actually some cool stuff coming up with OLEDs. From what I understand, they're already in use in smaller devices (cameras, cell phones). In the future, you could see some crazy stuff, like a big screen tv that folds up like a newspaper.

Update: My wife broke her ankle and tore ligaments in the surrounding area, so I'm home taking care of her, and missing my final exam with SIU over solid-state devices. My instructor emailed me the test. I think I'll ace this one. :)

Anyone want a peek? ;)

Actually, I'm thinking AE's wife had back trouble (or something) that had her on the IR for a while back in the spring/early summer.

Actually, my wife tore a ligament in the same ankle sometime in January or February.
