Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie to the NFL world though I do have an idea of the game rules.
I just want to stick my head up and say hi to everyone and see what sort of reception I receive? I am currently slowly working my way through the FOF 2004 demo and reading all the posts about this detailed, fascinating simulation.
It will take me a while to get through all the available rules, strategies, tips etc. I hope I can ask questions on stuff I'm unsure about?

Thanks
Clodhopper

Just make sure that anything you ask isn't something that is explained in the manual or else you'll get your freakin head torn off...

Oh, and welcome to the board! :)

Well, the reception you receive depends largely on your reactions to the following Items of Lore.

1) Colossal Squid

2) Penguin Hats

3) Rhinos

4) Trout

5) Dictators

6) Werewolves

Thank you. :)

Greetings- like the screen name. You seem a lot more courteous and a lot less of an arse than some people who have joined of late. It's a welcome change :)

Just remember that more than 98% of the post has nothing to do with the actual game you are playing. If you are looking for some great tips, there's a sticky at the top of the page.

Hello Clodhopper!
My advice? Stick with real FOOTBALL and forget this American football stuff ;)

I got nothing for FOF, sorry, but figured I'd say hi.

Dammit Kristen, don't you remember saldana's first thread. You just ruined a hopefully long line of welcomings with Clodhopper's name altered. Gosh!

There are very few things that most of us like to talk more about than football and football management sims. We will almost always be willing and eager to talk about the game we love.

Also, there are usually more sports threads on the front page, and every couple of days a FOF thread, but obviously the hurricane in the US has our attention. Also, search the forums and the archives for threads, since the games are old enough that posts from years back are still helpful. Also, don't be afraid to read advice for other (earlier) FOF games, as some of the best strategy guides are for the earliest versions, but are still applicable in some ways for the latest.

Last of All, Welcome to the Extended Family we call FOFC.

Welcome to the board cherry :). Feel free to discuss any topic here at FOFC.
Oh, before anything I have to ask you a question:

Is Oliver Cromwell considered the Father of The British Army?

Welcome Claude Hopper! We're always happy to help (unless you start off by posting controversial stuff in a political thread - then you might get banned).

Welcome Mr. Chunderhorse. Even though I've already welcomed you to the board I have a very important question for you. Is Oliver Warbucks the father of Franklin Delano Roosevelt?

Welcome Clodhopper

Always nice to see another European around here. As you have properly already noticed they have a very strange kind of humour but you get use to it.

Just stay away from anything regarding politic and penguins and you be safe.

And about the game. Join an online MP league. That’s the best way to learn the game and the only place you will see any actual football talk.

Hi everyone,
No I wasnt scared away, I was simply reading all the wacky welcomes of various sizes and shapes from the "Asylum". I particularly liked my name changes as the posts went on.
Its early days for me yet as I try to get comfortable with the demo version of FOF, though I intend buying the full version a little later ( I aint no cheapskate !).
I have alot of reading and searching of the stickies( sounds a bit painfull!!), archives, forums, and strategy guides before I can go on line and be comfortable with what I'm doing. Though I appreciate the advice that I may learn quicker by playing on-line.
For the benefit of Fantastic Flying Froggies I live inLeeds, West Yorkshire, England.
Coffee Warlord: These "Items of Lore" you list Colossal Squid,Penguin Hats, Rhinos,Trout, Dictators and Werewolves sounds like an in-joke amongst some of you, so its wasted on me !!
Chemical Soldier asks (though I aint sure how serious he is ?), Is Oliver Cromwell considered the father of the British army. I think he was instrumental in forming the first English standing army answerable to parliament/government of the day.

On a more serious note: My thoughts and best wishes go to anyone affected by the recent Hurricane/Floods.

I will watch the posts with interest.
