View Full Version : Help Me Pick My Team (Madden 2006)

So basically I'm at work, bored, and thinking about the type of team I'd like to draft in a complete fantasy redraft in Madden 2006. I tend to do this at some point with every version of the game, putting together a young, fast team, then trying to keep them together for quite a while to see how they end up doing.

Here's what I have so far:

QB: ?, S. Wallace, R. Ray

I'm not too attached to anybody as a starter, but I will take Wallace as my project backup and Ray, well, I'm from Edmonton, that's easy math ;)

RB: Arrington, Cason, ?

Again, not overly attached to anybody here. I'm looking mostly at a speed back who can get around the outside and run the counter effectively

FB: Krieder, Karney

My first need in a fullback is blocking, and well, Krieder rocks. Karney usually plays the roll of my backup FB for 5-8 years.

WR: A. Johnson, M. Jenkins, T. Williamson, R. Brown, D. Henderson

Open to any and all suggestions here. If I can, I'll take Andre Johnson as I tend to lack for early round picks because of a lot of my player preferences. My strategy here is to have good quality 1-3 wideouts, then a 4th and 5th that will act as field stretchers and return guys.

TE: ?, J. Stevens, ?

Same sort of issue as FB here. Blocking is normally my main priority, but if I find that the guys I want to draft look to be safe for another few rounds and that I've got a free pick early in the draft, I have no problems taking a top tier TE to give me a solid passing option. I do like to incorporate the TE in the passing game. My #3 TE is always a mashing blocker type.

LT: ?
LG: S. Hutchinson
C: C. Spencer
RG: S. Andrews
RT: A. Baron

I'm relatively sure this is how I'd like my starting lineup to look, but again, I'm waffling on how high I'd like to take a LT. For that matter, I'm still open to possibly replacing Hutch at LG.

RE: Peppers
LE: Suggs
DT: Tubbs/Patterson

Did a draft last night and picked up Peppers in the 1st round and Suggs in the 2nd. I tend to use DT's when I'm on D, so having DE's that can really cut off the outside run and pressure the QB on their own is nice.

ROLB: D. Johnson
MLB: L. Tatupu
LOLB: ?

I'm not sure which LB spot DJ Williams is in the game, I'm hoping LOLB, as I'd like to nab him there. Any other suggestions there? I'm pretty sold on Tatupu at MLB (yeah, homer pick).

CB: Trufant, D. Robinson
FS: Hamlin
SS: M. Boulware

I tend to like to have 4 quality CB's on my roster with the top 3 being 80+ guys. I ended up with Pacman Jones as my #3 in the draft I ran through last night, but options here would be great. #5 CB is another spot I like to have a lot of speed and KR/PR value at.

So help out a bored man, give me some options so I can sit down and get a nice young, relatively (currently) cheap team underway.

I know a few of the guys I mention will probably need to be gotten early, but I will say them anyways...

RB: LaDanian Tomlinson

-You can't go wrong with LT, all-around back and a good receiver out of the backfield, I have had many good years with LT in Madden

TE: Antonio Gates, Todd Heap

-Gates may not be a blocking TE, but he has a good catch and speed. Heap is more of your all-around guy and has the blocking skills to help anchor your line.

I am not sure about the rest right now, those were the first guys taht jumped at me.

You can find a plethora of cheap, fast and big WRs. They may be rated 72 overall, but they produce just as well as 92 guys.

Off the top of my head (don't have ratings in front of me) -- Dominic Davis is probably the poor man's version of LT. Maybe you'd want to go with Antonio Gates and Dom?

You should play a game where those rating actually matter ;)
