City of Heroes is currently trying to get people to try out their game for the upcoming weekend. Since I just recently received this email, is there anyone out there that is willing to try out City of Heroes free of charge for 14 days? If so, here is the serial code:
PZD8-CZRK-2LPU-3SKZ-SJLG
And here are the directions:
http://www.coh.com/newsletter/0502/download_info.html
The code only goes to the first person to call it, so I would appreciate it if the person taking the serial code would respond to this thread. I am also sure that other COH players will post their codes on here later.
Whoever join, make sure you join the Victory server. We actually have a FOFC super group on there.

I've been seriously considering hopping into that game again. If enough of us play on a regular basis...I just might.
How many of us still play?

It'd be nice to see ya on Coffee. Antmeister and I are on quite a bit and especially on weekends. Every Saturday we get together for task forces or respec missions.
Check out the thread:

Come on, it's a 2 week free trial! Who knows, you might be a regular ;)

By we, she means that a number of members on this board get together on Saturday to play. Marmel (who are actually two people), Raiders Army, Bad-example, DodgerChick, a random FOFC member, and I meet on this day. This weekend will have less members due to the fact that people had other plans to meet family this weekend, but we have consistently adventured so far.

I noticed that Issue 5 went live. Looking forward to getting back on after a super hectic summer.

I have never played a MMORPG before taking a shot at this with the free trial back in May (or somewhere around then). I have been playing non-stop since. Great game, try it out! I would say one of the best games I have ever played on the PC.

I played for about a month before I went overseas to work. Haven't signed back up again, thinking about waiting for City of Villans since I heard you have to pay seperately for them!

We don't have a controller. I got to level 21 in a little less than two weeks, FYI. :)

They are offering this again at the following link:

Be warned there is a monster download involved. There seems to be no set time limit for the offer... "while supplies last".

I'm tempted to try this out. Always wanted to back in the day but never did.

I had a lvl 20 Controller, but the game got old fast. Searching for people to team up with became really annoying after a while. Just not enough people online.

I did the free reactivation thing a couple of weekends ago to see if I wanted to resubscribe. I didn't get very far...apparently the game has become too big for my old computer. I kept crashing to the desktop.

Hmm, I've never had much of a problem with team invites, but then I've typically had toons that could solo if they had to - except for my empath, but she still gets *plenty* of invites. And actually, there are still many times when I'd rather solo just to go at my own pace. I suppose I do usually play on one of the most populated servers though (Virtue).
I think the devs have done a good job of keeping things somewhat interesting, at least for me. Some of the major things from the past two years:
1. AV->EB scaling. Won't do anything to a level 20, but this was a godsend for my scrapper when it came out. Allowed me to solo the upper level content w/o having to constantly outlevel it.
2. SG bases. Ok, maybe they haven't been what the devs envisioned as far as raiding is concerned. But, they do add a number of QoL functions, most notably storage (enhancements, salvage, inspirations) and zone transporters. That last one is a biggie. No longer does it take ages to go from zone to zone - if you have a transporter beacon, hop in your base and be dropped right in the zone you need.
3. Pocket D. Another great thing to use as a shortcut, as it connects KR, Talos, Founders and now the revamped Faultline.
4. City of Villains. Tons of new content in what really was a whole new game. Same basics, but definitely a different flavor. Not to mention five new archetypes. I've had this since it came out, and really haven't even scratched the surface of it with how much I still play heroside. Plus, this introduced Arachnos as another major baddie group, and an interesting one.
5. PvP. Ok, I'm not big on this one. But, still neat to dabble with every now and then, if only to do some of the missions or to get a Shivan to help you out in PvE.
6. Police band missions (newspaper missions from CoV). Oh my. Missions on demand, all in the zone you're in, that never end. No need to street sweep when you have exhausted all your contacts for a given level range. Beautiful.
7. Inventions. Or, loot. I was skeptical at first, but I've had fun with this since it was introduced a couple weeks ago. You can get by just fine w/o it - by no means is the system mandatory - but it's a nice element to play with.

I still have my account active and occasionally log in. Only one other person in the original super group has logged in besides me in a very long time. I forget the name of the character.

I still play (although i find eve more enjoyable). The new invention system throws some neat things into the mix. Permadomination for dominators looks very cool. I just need to get from 43 to 50 and get all decked out and try it.
course i am playing to many alts for this to happen anytime soon :(

Ahhhhhh....the good ol' days. I remember when Dodgerchick, Raiders Army, Bad-Example and I used to do a number of large missions together to thwart evil out of the city. We were really the closest things to being regulars at the time. It was a blast kicking ass/getting our asses kicked depending on the other 4 people who joined us. And from time to time, we would bump into Marmel, kingfc and I think we met cuervo72 once. Its too bad we dropped the account because I liked my characters Mystikhan and Manabolt.

Your characters will still be there if you sign back up. :)
However, there still isn't all that much to do now and I keep the account just to see if it gets better. It is really the same old grind. But I like logging in from time to time and doing a mission or two.
Now, I've just been checking out the invention stuff.

I can't recall if I teamed with anyone from these parts or not...I tend to be a relative hermit as far as MMO's go. :)
(though I think Marmel solos a large amount too)

I solo most of the time in games like these but those were indeed some fun times. Professor Ion is my all-time favorite online character. I quit CoH once I got my villain up to 50 and am now playing the WoW.

I love the idea of CoH/CoV so much, but the repetitive missions in the same few environments really grate on me. I know they have added a few more, but if they would really expand the mission maps, say adding 10 or 15 more you could get, that would make me want to play the game a lot more.
