*It should be noted that I don't hold a particularly dim viewpoint of the French in general, but on this point I think it's obvious that many in France have an irrational dislike of Armstrong

Can you even call it a comeback? Would'nt he have to sit out at least one TDF for this to happen?

it would be a comeback as he announced he is retiring. However, technically, since Lance only runs the Tour de France, it woudn't be a comeback.

Believe it or not, but Lance coming for another Tour would be very good for Le Tour de France :) Only Ulrich, Basso and cie won't like his comeback

agreed. i'm actually rooting for him now, whereas before i only had a passing indifference to the sport. i'd love for him to slap those mudslinging pansies with a flacid penis. go Lance.

My wife suggested that maybe the French made the accusations in order to piss off Lance, and reverse psych him into returning.

I still don't think that many frenchmen don't like him...many do think he's doped however, and a comeback wouldn't change that a bit.

I personnaly think he is doped (just like 95% of the other racers) and him coming back and winning another TdF wouldn't change that. In fact, it'd probably only reinforce the feeling...

he comes back and wins...he's still a cheater.
he comes back and loses and all the allegations get more legs.

He is in the same boat as Barry. No matter what he does, or where he goes, the first question he will always be asked will be about his Drug use.

He is a doper and nothing is ever going to change that.

Even if Barry hits 73 Homeruns next year he will always be remembered for his Steroid use. And, Armstrong will always be remembered for his Doping. Both of them should just take the money they made while "Shooting Up" and fade into the Sunset.

A Druggie is a Druggie, just ask Bill Clinton.

I agree. This can only end badly for him. Take a full year off, then maybe enter a lesser tour. But do not go near France.

Really? I thought it was just the opposite.

With Lance Armstrong there are Positive Drug tests out there, and with Bonds there is not a single positive tests out there.

That was my impression as well. I think they've both juiced though, but given the prevalence of doping in the TDF and other cycling events, I don't think it lessens Lance's amazing story at all.

With Barry there is much smoke, and he admits to using a creme and a clear substance.

With Lance, there is most likely possitive blood samples that might be his, and those blood samples might have been treated with a reasonable chain of custody to make them useful five years after the fact.
