I posted as much in the Pol column thread. I don't like the look it gives the forum. As I said before, I use the day at the office motif for a reason. I don't want icons of cutsie stars all over the forum I browse at the office. It is already hard enough to convince myself that everyone believes I'm looking at a technical site.

Damned liberals. They can't stand the stars on the bb so they demand it be changed. Where will this lead us? Are you guys going to try to put a blanket over the earth so we can't see the real stars? Sometimes you have to see things you don't like, deal with it.
Or maybe it's the F'n conservatives and their "class" system. They want to wipe out the poor minority threads and steal posts from underpriviledged internet users.
I'm sure it's one of the two. I just know it.

As I mentioned in another thread, it is a trial right now.

True, but it is rapidly turning into the Michael Jackson trial. I'll be glad to see these gone.

Perhaps we could use something other than stars? What about "+" instead? Still communicates the info, but blends in a lot more.

I'd give this thread no stars, but it wouldn't affect the overall star rating...so one star for you.

Is it just me or do the stars not work with the Sideline skin? I just get a red x.

I'm confused. I like this suggestion because I don't like the stars. But then if I give this thread 5 stars because of that, that will put more stars on the board.
Woe is me.

they don't work for me either. doesn't matter, i don't like this silly stars ratings nonsense so i didn't bother to mention it.

I'm also a bit conflicted over whether to rate the thread content or the thread subject matter. For instance, Trev Alberts getting fired is clearly a 5-star moment, but the thread, while fine, isn't anything spectacular and probably deserves no more than 3 stars.

I just don't like how the red x box spaces out the threads so they take up more room. I'm hoping the stars are smaller (but if they aren't it really doesn't matter I guess).

gotcha. yeah, i really don't like how the red boxes screw up the layout of the page. i'd really love it if the mods could make the ratings system an option you can click on or off in your profile.

We in the star business call this "starsturbation."

I'm rating threads purely on the entertainment value of the thread itself. For example, this thread gets 5 stars for HomerJSimpson's Turd Sandwich South Park reference!
I think we need to be able to rate individual posts. That would make more sense.
