I ordered a couple of items from Amazon last week, and they shipped on the 6th. The funny part is the estimated delivery date is the 19th, but as of yesterday, they were in Bell, CA.

Hopefully that means that I'll be receiving them today or tomorrow instead of a week from this coming Monday.

However, because it's Amazon, I fully expect to check package tracking in a day or so to find out that the items have traveled from CA to South Dakota to Bumfuck, Kansas.

With a layover or two in Indonesia for good measure.

I ordered some items from Amazon I think that went from Kentucky to Virginia to Laurel to Baltimore and then to me in Columbia. Of course, they had to pass through (or at least very near) to Columbia to get from Laurel to Baltimore. Granted, I still got my package earlier than Amazon's shipping estimate estimated...

I've had something go to Hagerstown, ship out of Hagerstown, only to return to Hagerstown again before getting to Frederick...

When I ordered Dark Tower VII, it shipped from Kentucky to California, back to Kentucky, off to some weird intermediary stop, and then back to California and finally to my mailbox.

It's almost like UPS or whoever Amazon uses has some sort of contract with them to send the package to whatever exotic locations are required in order to ensure that it doesn't arrive BEFORE the "projected delivery date."

I've had Amazon project 3-5 more days when the package was like a half hour down the road several times. Got it the next day both times.

Woohoo! The package tracker is saying it was delivered!

Time to go check and see :)
