What are the things that you have never been able to achive in any FOF career (solo play) ?
for me I can recall easily two things:
1- never had a player earn DefensivePOY honors
2- never had a team go undefeated 19-0 (best I had was 18-1)

Defensive player? I would think I have had one of those atleast a once, but maybe not. I know it doesn't happen much for me.
I have never been undefeated.
I have never won more then 4 championships in a row. In fact my last few spins of solo player, I have had a hard time getting just back to back titles.
I rarely have a guy lead the league in sacks, I can't remember the last time it has been so long.
I have never had a 5,000 yard passer. Just because I like to run. I will get he 4,000 yard passer here and there though.

Never had:
-5000 yds passer (maybe once, but I'm not sure)
-more than 3 in a row titles.
Also, I had a 2000 yds rusher only once.
These are the ones I recall right now.

Never had a player have 5 awards in the same year.
Rookie of the year
1st or 2nd team all pro
OFF or DEF player of the year
League MVP
Championship game MVP
Very hard to do. Probably not impossible.
I have gone undefeated ONCE. Glorious accomplishment.
I have never won more than 3 SBs in a row. I don't think I have ever led the league in passing yards or had a qb throw for more than 42 TDs. Never had a RB run for more than 21 TDs in a year.
Never played over 40 years.
Talk about replay value in a game! There is so much to conquer.

I've played maybe 40 seasons TOTAL of the FOF games, but maybe 60 of TCY. That's wild, since I've owned 3 versions of FOF.
Defensive POTY is something I've never rec'd.
I did just have a DE lead the league in sacks for the first time (19.5).
I think I've gone undefeated once, and it was sweet.
I've never won the tittie with only having 9 wins or less in the regular season (I often win at least 10, usually 11-12).
I don't think I've ever lead the league in passing yards, which is something I'd like to do someday.

I've never won more than 4 championships in a row. My main goal is to build a team that can dominate for a decade, winning 10 straight titles. Anyone been able to do this? My team that 4 peated did it twice in 9 years and then fell apart. Also that team had 3 19-0 seasons. I think it had to do with my QB who would throw for 4500 yards and rush for 1200 each season, and only get picked off about 5 times each season.. Probably the most dominate QB I've ever seen. When I drafted him I didn't need a QB, but was sitting at #3. I took one look at his 4.19 40, his 92% developed and drafted him. He went from a 72 potential when drafted to 99 overal by the end of his 3rd season.
He also liked to throw ALL of his td's to the same WR. One season that WR had 27 TD catches(but the QB spread it around untill around the goal line, it was weird. He would end up with lines such as 98 catches, 1,250 yards, 27 TDs). Obviously that career was never the same once they both retired, but it was without a doubt the most fun I've ever had playing FOF.
Onto things I've never been able to do...a 2,000 yard WR or rusher. I've been able to get 2 1,400 yard rushers(the starter was on pace to get 2000+, got hurt and the backup came in and picked up right where the starter left off) and several guys with 1,900 yards+ but never gotten that 2,000 yard rusher yet. Never had a guy lead the league in tackles and never had a guy win 5 awards in the same season.
Lately with the last patch I've been able to field winning teams, but with my latest dynasty I've only been to 1 front office bowl in 12 years, making the playoffs 10 of those times. On the bright side I'm very hopefull this team could give me my first 2,000 yard rusher. I got a 5th year 7th round pick that was a big time boom player. He lead the league in rushing last season with 1,676 yards averaging 5.76 ypc. I plan on feeding him the ball much more this season and seeing how it pans out. He was dominate in the pre-season.

There's a lot I haven't done since my Tampa Bay Buccaneers dynasty is the only true FOF one I've done so far :)
I *did* get Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year thus far though :D

I have never exported a draft class from TCY 2 to FOF. I'm looking forward to this.

I've never done a lot of things, in part due to house rules, and in part because I don't gameplan. The big one is I've never gone 19-0. I had a 16-0 run once but lost in the play-offs.
I've got a dynasty going right now, my first in a while, using Yab's 2005 rosters (go Yab), and I did have two 1,000 yard receivers for the first time ever. I almost had three the next season, but one of them got hurt.
Oh, and then two of them became free agents, so.....yeah.

There's nothing worse than going undefeated in the regular season and then getting knocked off in your first playoff game. That has happened to me so many times...

i bet the odds of winning superbowls increase more doing the gameplans yourself then clicking on the recommend button.

I actually lost that entire dynasty when my computer crashed a while ago. I stopped it the season he retired, just so I could show him off to some of my FOF playing friends.
When I drafted that WR one of my friends that plays the game was over here, I was sitting somewhere in the 20's in the first round and knew I needed to get that guy a franchise WR. There were 2 guys I was considering, my friend said to take the other guy(who ended up going early in the 2nd round), I obviously made the right decision. :D
I used one of Fido's old utilites when I quit playing that one to see how the other guy ended up b/c I never really remembered seeing his name anywhere. Turns out he played 5 seasons, never started a game, never really made an impact and retired.
My advice would be if you see a QB who runs a sub 4.20 40, is rated in the 70's current and is 90 some % developed out of college, trade everything you have to get him. He will be the ultimate stud. :D
That dynasty was a really wierd one, not only with that QB and WR, but also for the fact that I drafted a RB the year after the QB and WR in the top 10. He had the better bars and better potential than a RB the cowboys took 1 pick later. My guy turned out to be one of the biggest busts I've ever seen and it happened right after I drafted him, while the Cowboy's guy, who looked like a bust b/c of his combine numbers was a multi-time rushing champion.
Also one of my tackles played about 6-7 with good numbers, was rated in the 60's and never had been injuried. And then one year showed up at training camp rated 93/93. I gave him a huge contract, he goes and gets hurt in the 1st pre-season game and misses the season. He retains his 93/93 the next season, I sit him out of the pre-season and he goes down in the 1st game of the actual season and misses 2 seasons. He comes back then, STILL RATED 93/93, plays 2 games and gets hurt for the season again. I release him and he signs a huge contract with Jacksonville(still rated in the 90's.)....where he nevers plays more than a handfull of games over the remainder of his career. This made me wonder if FOF has a hidden "steriod" factor.
Anyway, I recall all of this without the save game b/c this was the most fun I have ever had with any game ever and I love to talk about it incase you haven't noticed:D . I'm still trying to re-create the feeling I had with that dynasty today. The closest I've ever come was when I took the colts, traded everyone that anyone would take and started over trying for a front office bowl through the draft.

has anyone won a lot of superbowls without doing the gameplan and just click on recommend button only?
No, but in single player I run the same gameplan the whole season(and sometimes many seasons in a row if I keep the same personel). Many times I'll take over a team, set my gameplan to what I want my team to play like and then try to match the personel. Makes it SO much sweeter when I can bust out that gameplan 4-5 years later when all that personel is in place. Of course when I do that I make a seperate gameplan for the current personel I have in place.

I never do my own gameplans in singleplayer, and I win my share of Super Bowls. My sense is that the "coach" gives you a much more balanced offense (or defense), so I very rarely have huge performers at any one position, even when the team as a whole is dominant. I find this to be more realistic anyway, not to mention a whole heck of a lot easier.

I agree it is alot more realistic to have the coach set it, but I have a huge problem when my seconday is made up of 4 guys rated 90+ in zone defense and less than 20 everywhere else and my coach wants to run man-to-man and bump n' run half the time. There isn't a coach anywhere that would run that with that kind of pensonel. Also by setting your own game plan you can run different kinds of things such as the run n' shoot(lots of long passes), west coast(lots of short passes), or a power running game. Those are things you will never get with the CPU setting the gameplan. It also gives you a chance to run a little more toward your best run blocking lineman, or negate any weaknesses your QB has, something the CPU will not care about when setting the thing. I highly suggest you take a look at the game plan, to me half the fun each season is adjusting the gameplan to take advantage of any new free agents I signed over the off-season.
To be fair the CPU does a better job handling the offense than the defense. I once let the CPU set my gameplan one season with my defense and it ranked 26th in the league. I re-loaded, set a defensive gameplan to match up to the personel and that same team pitched 2 shut outs and gave up the fewest yards in the league.

i agree.
the only reason i dont use recommend button is it doesnt do a good job with the gameplanning especially on defense to matchup the personal strength and weakness of your team and of the opponent too your facing.
and on offense it hardly changes things much.

heh, it's funny you guys posted things on here...
I fired up my SP career tonight, forgot that my stud RB had retired so I went through the draft and grabbed another very good WR giving me basically 4 starting WRs (but no RB now, there was nothing in the draft anyways) so I crank up my pass settings and throw for 5K+ and finish 19-0 and my 1st perfect season in 5.1d :)

Also one note, if you run an empty cupboard dynasty as I have several times, you are almost guaranteed to get a Defensive Player of the Year off your team, your initial teams are so bad that even horrible players at linebacker rack up huge tackle totals since they're on the field so much.

Maybe a typo but the single season record is 14 and yes it is by Dick Lane not Ed Reed as Madden 06 would suggest.

Ever occur that I may have been trying to go against the grain and call him by a name that nobody calls him by anymore.
