The long drought is almost over. You had better start saving your Penny's now.
Maximum Football -- Any hour Now!
Football Mogul 2006 -- Any Day Now!!
Bowl Bound College Football -- Any week now!!!
Looks like all 3 of these game will be hitting the market around the end/beginning of the month and they all feature online multiplayer leagues.
Try to work that into your schedule. :D

Has anyone had a chance to download the free Beta version of Football Mogul 2006 and put some hours into it?
http://www.sportsmogul.com/vbulletin2/showpost.php?p=426649&postcount=48
I will probably give it a go this weekend. I tried the '03 version and did not go back for the '05 version. Who knows, maybe the 3rd generation of this series will be the one that hits the spot.

Ugh.... That was a very nasty read.
I will probably still give it a shot this weeked to try and kill some time. Hopefully the game has changed in the last 2 weeks of Beta testing.
Also, I would of loved to of seen some League Leaders Stats for those years.

I'm sorry if this rubs someone the wrong way, but with 3 products about to hit the marketplace, Jim should announce his next game and the timeframe for releasing it. Otherwise, he risks losing sales and customers to these other products.

And before that it was promised weeks and weeks ago, and before that months ago...
...I'm actually interested in the game, but I think the most prudent approach is to actually believe it when we see it. If we see it, that is.

As far as Bowl Bound College Football you have got to be wondering if Jim will once again Outstage this Guy with a well timed release of TCY 2.
That could cause some people out there to start thinking about Jim having a hidden camera when you look back at the TPF vs FOF2004 realease dates.

Stop it.
I just opened the game and vicks rating are nothing like this. Also, I quick simmed a season and had 3 QBs with over 4,000 yards. I was using the hardest difficulty setting and played in simulation mode.

There is only one for now:
Bowl Bound College Football
Football Mogul shouldn't be mentioned unless it's with backyard football.. and even then you're being an ass to Atari. Maximum football doesn't have a career mode, at least I don't think and appears on the surface to be a FPS replica without all the features - and DON'T EVER compare yourself to the FPS series. :)
That's like comparing Bulger to Bradshaw.

I think we all know that, but it is advertising itself as a strong sim game (even if it doesn't have a career mode) so it got lumped in with the others.

Explain. I just ran another quick simulated season on "simulation" mode and the Stats look dead on to me. Actually, Dare I say it, Better than FOF.
I challenge you to download the latest "Beta" version of Football Mogul 2006 and check out the stats for yourself.

There is a lot more to a football game than just simulated season stats. From what I've heard, the trade AI in Football Mogul 2006 (yes the latest beta) is a joke.

Sorry, but after the twin debacles of the original FM and the BM series, I wouldn't give Clay another dime of my money - ever.
Also, while you're posting that the stats are fine, others are posting screenshots that suggest the exact opposite.

I'm going "on a hunch" per say.. and that last sentence, first paragraph makes your post lose all credibility as far as I'm concerned. Are you kidding me?

Glad to see the AI is at its Football Mogul best.
BIG-->:rolleyes:
It is still in beta...but based on Baseball Mogul, I wouldn't expect dramatic improvement on the realism front...
Of course, I found BM a fun little game despite some of the well-documented (and valid) problems. I'll probably download the demo and check out FM, but my expectations for football games are generally much higher than baseball since I'm not really a baseball fan.

Quick side note what is the difference between then and than? Is it just tense?

I believe that screen shot was from an earlier FOFC thread from about 3 weeks ago. Also, as I keep pointing out, don't forget to put the game in "Simulation" mode. I would assume this would have somethinbg to do with the stats.
I have no idea on how the trade or finances work in the game. And, I won't even talk about the combination of trading for money???

Hold on there partner. My refrence to FOF was only talking about Season stats I was looking at after quick simming a season.
I think the idea of trading for money in an NFL game is idiotic and I am pretty sure illegal according to NFL rules.

Do a lot of trading in your single player games, do we?
We must be on different levels then. :D
FOF2004 House rule #3 for me is 'No trading with computer teams unless they make the offer.' FOF's trade AI just seemed a little too easy for me.

I find FOF's trade AI to be a bitch during the draft. And count me as another one who's pretty much given up on the BM/FM series of games.
BM was fun way back in the day, but since switching to OOTP, it just doesn't compare.

Speaking of idiotic ideas.... I really hope TPF's Empire Building Concepts make there way to Bowl Bound.
While it was completly wrong for an NFL sim, it is dead on for a College sim. There is a little more than roster talent that seperates Miami from Rutgers.
This aspect of the College game is what I always found lacking in a computer games. Builing your staff up, expanding the weight room, getting the big athletic center, and finally being able to travel first class is also something that seperates the big time college programs from the rest.
Should be fun to see in a College Sim.

If that is literally true, then it is likely a *very* bad sign. I don't understand.
If he's on vacation, I'm going to assume that it is at least a week. I've never seen or heard of a text sim beta process that had a full week of testing from one build to the next in the later stages of beta, and we know that all text sims are released with some bugs. If he is literally going to return from vacation and release the game "as soon as" he gets back, that means that he's going to ignore a week or more worth of bug reports. OR, if he's planning on fixing a week's worth of bug reposts, then it is pretty stupid to say that he'll release it very soon after vacation. He has no clue what show-stopping bugs may be revealed while he's gone, and sometimes those bugs take a while to find and fix.
